Transfer Portal: Miami's Offensive Line Needs

The Hurricanes will likely need at least one offensive lineman from the Transfer Portal

00:12 this year with Matt Lee, the center, heading to the NFL.

00:15 You're probably going to lose Jaylen Rivers and quite possibly you could also lose Cohen,

00:22 That would be center, left guard, and left tackle all exiting.

00:26 Now one could argue that Miami has the best offensive line in the ACC this year, but that's

00:31 for this season.

00:32 We're already talking about 2024 and that's hard to replace three players that can at

00:36 least entertain NFL opportunities.

00:39 Perhaps one of them comes back, but I'm projecting that they will not.

00:43 That being stated, you also have to take into consideration injuries, development of players

00:48 coming up the ladder, Matthew McCoy, etc.

00:51 You're looking at a lot of talent.

00:52 And as I look at my list, the guy that I'm really curious about is Samson Okudwola, but

00:57 he had a very significant leg injury this season.

01:00 How will he transform into the 2024 spring practice session?

01:04 How healthy can he be?

01:06 And can you count on him for the next season?

01:09 These are difficult questions for Mario Cristobal, Alex Mirabal, and quite frankly, the entire

01:14 Miami staff because offensive line, as Cristobal has stated many times, is going to be a backbone

01:20 of this program and he wants to have a line of scrimmage program in general.

01:25 Well to do that, you need experienced players.

01:28 Offensive line is not a place where freshmen, although Francis Maligoa kind of goes against

01:32 the grain here, is a place where freshmen are going to make a lot of headway.

01:37 They're recruiting well again on the offensive line, but they need at least one, if not two,

01:42 offensive line to come into the transfer portal again.

01:45 So Miami's success is all but sealed in 2024.
