00:00 Toyota has finally upgraded its infotainment system.
00:02 It's now a much better system than the previous generation.
00:05 This here is an eight-inch unit,
00:06 and it's going to be rolled out through Toyota's entire range.
00:10 Today, I'm gonna walk you through a detailed review of this.
00:12 Ignore all the hybrid bits because we're in a RAV4 hybrid,
00:15 but the rest of the content of this screen
00:17 is gonna be the same.
00:19 Let's start with the navigation menu.
00:21 It's a touchscreen, of course,
00:22 and this has rapidly improved.
00:24 I remember with the old infotainment system,
00:26 it was quite difficult to move things around.
00:28 This is a much better system, much easier to use as well.
00:31 Entering in navigation destinations
00:32 is pretty straightforward,
00:34 but it is a little bit convoluted.
00:35 You've got to go through like 10 different menus
00:37 to get to where you need to go,
00:39 and once you start typing,
00:41 it's all pretty quick and easy to use,
00:43 which is excellent news.
00:44 You can also use the voice recognition function.
00:46 It works well,
00:47 it just sometimes doesn't pick up
00:49 exactly what you want it to do.
00:51 Sometimes it doesn't recognize the names
00:53 that you're asking it to find for the phone,
00:55 and also the same story with navigation addresses.
00:57 Sometimes it's a little bit clumsy.
00:59 It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,
01:01 but keep in mind it's a wired system only.
01:03 Back onto that home menu,
01:04 you can then go into audio.
01:05 This is where you're gonna find AM/FM,
01:08 DAB plus digital radio.
01:10 You also have the option to mirror cast
01:11 from an Android device,
01:12 and also plug in through Bluetooth,
01:14 and also USB as well.
01:16 So if you have an old school iPod or something like that,
01:18 you can still plug that into the car,
01:20 and it will do everything as you expect it to do.
01:22 I love this menu here.
01:23 So given this is a hybrid,
01:24 you get to see real time where the power is coming from,
01:28 where the energy is going to.
01:30 So this is your battery,
01:31 it's state of charge,
01:32 and then it will also tell you as you're driving
01:34 whether the battery's supplying torque
01:36 to those front wheels,
01:37 or whether it's the engine.
01:38 When this is in an all-wheel drive version,
01:40 you'll also see an extra link here to the rear axle,
01:42 which is strictly driven by the electric motor
01:45 in the hybrid all-wheel drive cars,
01:47 which is a little bit different
01:48 and kind of cool if you ask me.
01:50 Into our menu,
01:50 this is where you're gonna find extra options.
01:52 You do have an apps menu.
01:53 You can confidently completely ignore that.
01:56 So this is Toyota Link.
01:57 It's Toyota's infotainment apps.
02:01 I wouldn't bother using any of them.
02:02 This is how you used to connect with the car previously
02:05 in the last generation of the infotainment system,
02:07 and it was absolutely hopeless to use.
02:09 If you go over to the information menu,
02:10 you've got some extra eco dialogues.
02:12 So this shows you your recent trip history,
02:15 how much fuel you're using,
02:17 and then also,
02:18 if we go over to the history menu,
02:20 what your previous usage has been like.
02:22 Look at this,
02:23 previous best is pretty much bang on
02:24 with the fuel consumption for this car,
02:26 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres.
02:28 And then finally, you've also got setup options.
02:30 So this just takes you through
02:32 all the car's configuration functions.
02:33 You do have the ability to connect to a wifi network.
02:37 That's especially handy if you're doing updates
02:39 to the infotainment system
02:40 that are done strictly over wifi.
02:41 And then finally, you have this menu here,
02:43 which is pretty handy.
02:44 This shows you all the maintenance items
02:46 you have coming up.
02:48 So it'll tell you when you need to rotate your tyres,
02:49 when you did them last,
02:50 and how long you've got until the next one.
02:53 And then you can also set your local dealer here as well.
02:55 So if you ever run into any dramas,
02:56 it's one push button away,
02:58 and it will take you straight to your dealer.
03:00 Also, I love these rubberised buttons up the top as well.
03:03 That's been a detailed look
03:04 at the new Toyota infotainment system.
03:06 If you would like a little bit more detail,
03:08 head to carexpert.com.au
03:09 to see our written write up on this.
03:11 Also, if you have enjoyed this video,
03:13 hit the like button.
03:14 I'd also love it if you could subscribe
03:16 and also press the bell icon.
03:17 That's gonna tell you every single time we drive a new car.
03:20 And until next time, take it easy.
