The 2023 Can-Am Outlander ATV is here, and we spent two days bashing around BMF Ranch outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico! That gave us enough time to discover the FIVE things we LOVE about the new mid-size quad.

00:00 Hey guys, Zach Bowman with UTV Driver.
00:02 We are out here just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico at BMF Ranch to drive the all-new
00:07 Can-Am Outlander.
00:16 This is the 700 model.
00:17 The 700 and the 500 share the same engine, but, you know, we spent all day riding and
00:22 we thought we'd give you five things that we love about this rig.
00:25 We're going to start with the fact that it comes with LED headlights across the board.
00:30 So no halogens anywhere.
00:32 You get high intensity LEDs everywhere.
00:35 That's great.
00:36 Number two, DPS models, which this is a DPS model, gives you excellent power steering.
00:41 How good is the power steering?
00:42 You get three different modes, min, mid, and max.
00:46 Max, you can steer the thing nearly with your pinky.
00:49 It's excellent.
00:51 Number three, the P-Drive transmission.
00:53 This is the same transmission that they use in the Can-Am X3, which means that it is excellent.
01:00 Clutch take up is fantastic.
01:02 Throttle modulation is super easy, but more importantly, it's super simple to shift between
01:07 gears.
01:08 Everything just goes right in and out, even when you're on a steep incline.
01:11 Number four, heat management.
01:13 So one of the big things about the old Can-Am, you ride through water, you're riding on a
01:17 hot day, you get a lot of exhaust out the side.
01:20 Not great.
01:21 The new single cylinder engine has a single exhaust that runs out the rear, and there
01:24 are protective side panels that run down both sides to keep all the engine heat and noise
01:29 away from you.
01:30 It means that you hear only the noises you want to hear, which is a good exhaust note.
01:35 There's no rattles, there's no squeak, there's no anything, and you stay nice and cool while
01:39 you're riding.
01:40 Number four, the seat.
01:42 Holy crap, is this thing comfortable.
01:43 This is a Recute rig, which means Can-Am wants you to be able to do a little bit of everything.
01:48 They say about 60% of people are going to be using it for recreation, bopping around,
01:53 and about 40% of people are going to be using it to tow a little trailer about, do chores
01:58 on the farm, that sort of thing.
01:59 That means you're going to be spending a lot of time in the saddle, and this thing is super
02:03 comfortable.
02:04 We probably spent about five hours ripping around on a track today.
02:07 It was great.
02:08 Number five, ease of maintenance.
02:10 So Can-Am focused pretty heavily on making this thing easy to maintain, even with all
02:14 these extra plastic panels.
02:16 The side panels come off super quick, super easy.
02:19 Turn a little toggle, they pop right off.
02:21 You have access to your CVT on the left side, you have access to your oil on the right side.
02:26 More importantly, up top, right behind the console, you have access to the air filter,
02:32 the coolant reservoir, and the fuses.
02:34 It's all right up top.
02:35 That's great.
02:36 Finally, the seat lifts off super quick and easy, and you have leads that run directly
02:41 to the battery, which is housed behind the right rear fender.
02:44 That's it.
02:45 And a bonus, I wanted to show you this guy.
02:48 Can-Am, for the first time, is putting a fuel caddy in the front drop-down, and I want to
02:54 show you exactly how that works.
02:55 So this is the fuel caddy.
02:56 It uses the link system, so you have a little safety down here.
03:02 Pull that guy loose, and then there's your lock.
03:05 Open up the lock, out comes the caddy.
03:09 How slick is that?
03:10 There's a better look here.
03:11 So you've got that little foot, little foot slides in there.
03:16 Go back over here, save a load of dogs.
03:21 Put that sucker in, and you're good to go.
03:25 So why is that good?
03:27 A lot of reasons, right?
03:29 No manufacturer recommends that you move a gas can on an ATV.
03:34 They fall off.
03:35 If you happen to have a rollover, you've got gas everywhere.
03:40 This is huge.
03:41 This is a big deal for getting work done.
03:44 More importantly, that same system can be used across all of Can-Am's link systems.
03:51 So if you've got a skidoo, you've got a sled, you've got whatever, you can use that same
03:54 jerry can across multiple rigs.
03:57 That same system also works with Can-Am's chainsaw, which is an auxiliary accessory
04:04 that they don't actually have on display here.
04:06 But with a jerry can and a chainsaw secure on your rig, you've got a full day's worth
04:13 of work.
