Hoodie Girl discusses the size issue for the Miami Hurricanes
Transcript
00:00 Biggest concern for Miami would be what for you?
00:05 I mean, I think everybody's going to say height.
00:08 Our starting center technically is 6'7" if you're being generous.
00:13 But we managed to play small ball all the way through last season,
00:19 win the ACC regular season.
00:21 We lost in the semis in the ACC tournament, but again,
00:24 Norchak got injured in the first minute, so we beat Duke with him there
00:27 because we barely lost to him.
00:28 And then we made it to the Final Four, and what killed us against UConn
00:31 was height.
00:32 But it was also because we just weren't getting our shots,
00:35 the shots that we usually make that force teams to adjust to our small ball
00:40 play weren't falling, and so UConn never had to adjust.
00:43 It's always going to be something that we have to battle through all season,
00:46 like Duke has a 7-footer.
00:48 But Coach L can coach small ball, but anyone's going to say height.
00:53 Also, we lost arguably two of our best players last season in Jordan Miller
00:57 and Isaiah Wong.
00:58 So it's going to be interesting to see who kind of fills their shoes because,
01:02 I mean, Isaiah Wong was ACC Player of the Year.
01:04 That's not just something you can automatically replace.
01:07 So I want to see who's going to be that guy that can create his own shots,
01:12 can kind of get that instant offense that Isaiah used to do.
01:14 And then Jordan was more kind of the glue of the team, kind of the leader,
01:18 who kind of steps up into that role and fills those shoes for both of those guys.
01:22 And I don't think it necessarily has to be two players.
01:24 It can be multiple, but I think different nights you're going to see
01:27 different people do it.
01:28 But those are two invaluable players, so it's definitely going to be interesting
01:32 to see how we adapt and who steps up next.
