00:02:25 See you in a second.
00:02:26 Alright, for the first time, we are here post-pre-recording everything else after Celtics lost.
00:02:33 The Celtics lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
00:02:36 Tonight, again, we're recording this, now, at Monday, November 6th, 11pm.
00:02:41 Lost in overtime due to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
00:02:44 Final score, 109-114.
00:02:47 Anthony Edwards absolutely popped off 38 points.
00:02:50 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 15 of 25 from the field.
00:02:53 And the Celtics just really couldn't find any form of consistent offense.
00:02:56 They shot 39% from the field and 28% from deep.
00:02:59 Everyone struggled from 3 on the night outside of Hauser and Brown.
00:03:03 Shot okay, but it was high volume, low makes, so the percentage might be lying a little bit.
00:03:07 Drew Holiday was very off 4 for 16 on the night, 0 for 4.
00:03:11 Chris Stops for Zingas didn't have it, Al Horford didn't have it.
00:03:14 Tatum shot well from the field but couldn't make his 3's.
00:03:16 6 turnovers for Tatum.
00:03:18 Carl Anthony Towns was bad, but he fouled out, which kind of worked out well for the Timberwolves in overtime.
00:03:24 Just a messy game from the Celtics.
00:03:26 82-0 was never in the cards as much as Sam wanted it to be, but it was just a mess.
00:03:31 The Timberwolves played good defense on the night, made a bunch of tough shots,
00:03:34 and Celtics offense just couldn't find a way to generate good shots outside of the 3's they took.
00:03:38 And even the 3's they took weren't great. So overall, just a pretty messy game and a tough loss for the Celtics.
00:03:43 5-1 on the season now.
00:03:45 Yeah, I mean this was just about as bad as it gets.
00:03:49 It was miserable from the jump.
00:03:51 Like Jack said, the percentages were just terrifying.
00:03:55 Like 39% from the field, then 28% from 3.
00:04:01 What a terrible night that is.
00:04:03 And they ended with what? 16 turnovers?
00:04:05 What did I watch? The playoffs? Tonight?
00:04:08 The worst part is, the Wolves had 23, so they should have won the turnover battle, but it didn't matter.
00:04:14 They played with some kind of guts down the stretch in the 4th because they were down.
00:04:20 They took a lead, and then once they got the lead, they looked like the team from last year, where they just had nothing for you.
00:04:26 They looked terrible in overtime.
00:04:28 They got very lazy. They were taking 3's.
00:04:31 They couldn't buy a stop.
00:04:33 I mean, Anthony Edwards was on fire, so you have to take that one with a grain of salt.
00:04:37 But the offense just looked lost.
00:04:40 Minnesota showed off why they were the #1 defense in the league.
00:04:44 They made things difficult.
00:04:46 It was very hard for Jason Tatum to even get the ball.
00:04:49 Never mind the good look.
00:04:51 It was impressive that he shot 54% from the field today.
00:04:54 Shout out to Aidan McDaniels. He's the defensive player of the year.
00:04:57 He genuinely was really good in this one. He just didn't let Tatum touch the ball a lot.
00:05:03 It was frustrating. The Timberwolves shot 35% from deep, but they made all the timely ones.
00:05:09 Nas Reid played alright when he got in there.
00:05:11 Cat was bad.
00:05:13 Drew Holliday just couldn't find anything.
00:05:15 He was missing layups.
00:05:16 It wasn't just like his 3's weren't falling.
00:05:18 He went over 3.
00:05:19 He had a tough miss.
00:05:20 Yeah, he just didn't have it.
00:05:22 Over time.
00:05:24 Tim Brown shot alright overall from the field.
00:05:27 But even he had his moments where he wasn't great.
00:05:30 Portzingis couldn't find it.
00:05:32 The bench.
00:05:34 Pritchard still couldn't hit a shot.
00:05:36 Hauser made some of his 3's.
00:05:39 That final shot though he took at the end of the game was bad.
00:05:43 Well, this year with overtime, and I can't sort by overtime yet, so I can't see what the stats are
00:05:48 to look specifically at overtime stats.
00:05:50 It felt like none of the shots they got were in the flow of the offense.
00:05:54 It was all Tatum pull up with a defender on him.
00:05:57 Brown pull up with a defender on him.
00:05:59 Sam Hauser.
00:06:01 Chuck a 3 at the end.
00:06:02 At that point, Celtics had maybe like a 2% chance of winning.
00:06:06 It wasn't ever, but still a bad shot regardless.
00:06:09 The Timberwolves did a good job of accepting the mismatches and denying the plays off of the mismatches if that makes sense.
00:06:19 Celtics offense, we talked about it all year, and it's worked really well all year, and I'm confident it can work.
00:06:23 You just have to find better ways to work around it.
00:06:26 It has been find a mismatch and then make a play off the mismatch, and it's worked really well against the first 5 games.
00:06:32 In this one, the Timberwolves were content with Jaden McDaniels and Jason Tatum.
00:06:37 They were content with Jalen Brown working on Anthony Edwards.
00:06:39 They were fine with it, right?
00:06:41 Portzingis didn't have his shot, and so they were fine with letting him shoot.
00:06:45 Horford didn't have his shot.
00:06:46 They were fine with whoever was on him.
00:06:48 The Celtics obviously didn't have it.
00:06:49 As much as the Celtics offense was bad, you also have to credit the Timberwolves for playing really good defense.
00:06:54 They were great on the defensive end.
00:06:56 They completely clogged the lane.
00:06:58 The Celtics couldn't get anything off towards the rim, which is kind of what they did in Utah with Gobert at the center there.
00:07:04 And then even on the perimeter, Jaden McDaniels and Anthony Edwards were roaming around there playing good defense to stop the 3-point quality from going up.
00:07:12 It was good all around there.
00:07:14 The Celtics settled too much in this one because the Timberwolves cut off those passing lanes.
00:07:19 And then on offense, like you said, I mean, Anthony Edwards was on a heater.
00:07:23 Nikhil Alexander Walker hit a couple tough shots.
00:07:27 Jaden McDaniels hit his threes.
00:07:30 They had guys who stepped up and made big plays.
00:07:32 And even Cat, for as bad as he was in this game, had a three-possession stretch where he just ran right into Drew Holiday and made three buckets in a row.
00:07:39 One of them got overturned, but the Timberwolves did a good job of finding their spots and attacking in the places where it benefited them.
00:07:47 And defensively, I mean, we talked about it on pregame, I think, and how they're the best defensive team in the league.
00:07:54 And it showed. You can see why they are the best defensive team in the league, and the Celtics didn't really have an answer for this one.
00:08:00 The other thing is Al Horford was just – by the time the end of the game came around, it was just Anthony Edwards gets the switch on to Al Horford, cook, buck.
00:08:10 And that's not a knock on Al because he is what he is at this point, but Al Horford couldn't keep up.
00:08:16 No one could with Anthony Edwards.
00:08:18 No. Edwards had it, targeted Horford in overtime, got his looks.
00:08:24 I mean, some of the shots he was getting was the easiest, least contested shot he's gotten all night with the seconds winding in on overtime, which is what are you going to do?
00:08:34 I mean, Horford's going to give you what he's got.
00:08:37 And traditionally, he's a very good defender.
00:08:39 So yeah, Horford wasn't great on defense at the end of this game, but it really sucked to watch them try and put the ball in the basket.
00:08:45 It was pitiful.
00:08:46 The final possession of regulation, did Jalen get a good look?
00:08:50 Yes, but also it felt like they could have done more.
00:08:54 They could have moved the ball.
00:08:55 They had enough weapons to where they could have caused the defense to have to be uncomfortable at least a little bit, right?
00:09:02 Instead of Jalen kind of looking for the ISO step back again, created a good shot, just hit the front of the rim, like whatever, it happens.
00:09:09 But with Tatum on the floor, haven't been hot.
00:09:12 Poor Zingas even post them up, probably draw a double some way.
00:09:16 You could have went to that.
00:09:18 We've talked about the post so much this summer.
00:09:20 We've talked about it a whole lot to start the season, and it was kind of sad not to see it get used on a day like today.
00:09:27 Now I know Gobert's sitting there waiting in the paint as the help guy, as a great shot blocker.
00:09:34 But I would have liked to see a little creativity there besides the top of the key ISO.
00:09:40 Because again, just brought me back to watching them fail in the playoffs because they were doing that.
00:09:45 I agree.
00:09:47 And I don't think this is a necessarily specifically Derek White thing, but I think these are the types of games you could end up seeing when the Celtics are down one of their six guys.
00:09:55 Especially tonight when Anthony Edwards was so easily able to just get on Al Horford like Derek White was in the game.
00:10:01 They're probably would have been a little easier for the Celtics to defend probably would have gotten a couple better contests off.
00:10:05 Edwards was just hot, so you don't know if it would help that much.
00:10:08 But on offense, there were so many isolations.
00:10:11 I wonder if having that extra ball mover that extra connector because I mean that's really where Derek White excels could have helped them generate some sort of flow and just in general when this many guys don't have it on one night having another option who could pick it up.
00:10:25 Like maybe Derek White had this three point shot that night, which would help.
00:10:28 So you can see when they start to miss guys.
00:10:32 I mean, Joe Mozilla went to Lamar Stevens and see Mikhail early.
00:10:34 Neither of them was really able to get anything going.
00:10:37 And so they didn't play so it wasn't the other world regardless, but maybe you wish Pritchard had something else.
00:10:42 But even when Pritchard has the ball like he was just getting clamped like the Timberwolves were just on him like he didn't even have a chance to get clean looks off.
00:10:49 Luke Cornette was actually fine in this one again.
00:10:51 Not that it mattered, but he like he was in his spots.
00:10:54 He did the right things the right places.
00:10:56 It was just ugly basketball.
00:10:58 It was just ugly selfish basketball from the Celtics in this one.
00:11:00 It was remnants of what we seen in your past.
00:11:05 Drew Holiday had six assists in the nights, but it felt like he probably this was one of the games where he probably should have taken probably should have ended three for 11 rather than four for 16 if that makes sense.
00:11:16 And yeah, that's that's really all there is credit this as much as the Celtics did play bad.
00:11:24 I'm tempted to give more credit to the Wolves than I am to scold the Celtics.
00:11:28 The Wolves played really good in this one like the Celtics helped him out by not being on but Wolves played great on defense.
00:11:33 You got to give him credit.
00:11:34 You got to give Edwards credit for playing like that.
00:11:36 Jada McDaniels had a good game.
00:11:37 So they were good.
00:11:38 Celtics need to come back and adjust.
00:11:40 They weren't going to go 82 and oh anyway.
00:11:41 So it is what it is.
00:11:43 I don't think this is a panic loss on the alarms because we've seen how this all this can be.
00:11:47 But it is it wait an extra five minutes.
00:11:50 Yeah, overtime was the real problem for me.
00:11:53 The offense and overtime was really, really, really bad.
00:11:56 So bad we could have done this like I went to bed earlier.
00:12:00 I couldn't I didn't get to also the last thing not a good finish.
00:12:04 Yeah, the last thing Jalen Brown ended up getting an OK shot at the end of regulation there.
00:12:09 Would you rather Missoula called a timeout when he was stuck in the corner there and draw something up?
00:12:14 Are you fine with what he got?
00:12:16 Was he stuck in the car?
00:12:17 I'm trying to think.
00:12:18 Oh, yes, he was because you were flipping out with like six seconds left.
00:12:21 They got he like got stuck there.
00:12:22 He was there and like not looking at the basket.
00:12:24 I feel like maybe like timeout, but just the nitpick.
00:12:27 It was he got an OK shot.
00:12:28 Like, I'm not going to complain about the shot he got.
00:12:30 But anyways, anything else you want to talk about from that game or should we wrap it there?
00:12:35 Oh, just try not to leave anything out of the top of my head.
00:12:38 It was just it's tough.
00:12:40 Like, I'll check the notebook, but it was a good Timberwolves win for sure.
00:12:45 Like they battled.
00:12:46 Yeah. Like if I was a Timberwolves fan, this is like one that you'd be hyped about.
00:12:50 You'd be like, we got him.
00:12:52 Yeah, they did.
00:12:53 They made the Celtics play bad to their credit.
00:12:55 Like they made things very difficult for the Celtics.
00:12:57 A lot of shots were tough.
00:12:58 They made the Celtics revert to more on ball there.
00:13:01 Just the dribble, dribble, dribble, shoot.
00:13:04 Well, I think that's the thing.
00:13:05 Like the Celtics.
00:13:06 Oh, last offense.
00:13:07 Yeah, the Celtics offense was bad, but the Timberwolves forced them into playing that offense because they couldn't like there was no flow because the Timberwolves didn't let them get any.
00:13:14 So I guess that's where some credit goes.
00:13:16 I will say I suppose you want this, but it does feel like everybody just has the green light.
00:13:22 Like, yeah, but three just fire it up there.
00:13:25 Like, listen, some of them went in like Horford made one that I was like, what is he doing?
00:13:31 But like, Hauser's green light is like, extremely, extremely like bright.
00:13:37 And he's been a good connector this year too.
00:13:38 Like he's been good, excuse me, good at driving closeouts and making passes.
00:13:41 So maybe you see him do that more.
00:13:42 I would like that.
00:13:44 I don't know.
00:13:45 Maybe I wouldn't like that because then I just think of Grant trying to do it.
00:13:49 True.
00:13:50 There's a balance.
00:13:51 I don't know.
00:13:52 I just wish like every time he had the look, it wasn't going up.
00:13:56 It's a tough, it's a tough thing because then they start to overthink and then the confidence drops and I don't know, whatever.
00:14:03 It's a balanced thing, but tough loss.
00:14:06 Celtics will bounce back.
00:14:07 They got a few, excuse me, game on Wednesday against the Sixers.
00:14:09 Few more games this week, but big one.
00:14:11 We will throw it over to our past selves for the rest of the show.
00:14:16 All right.
00:14:17 We are back with the rest of the show.
00:14:20 One of these times we're going to be coming back from a loss and knock on wood.
00:14:24 I mean, hopefully not, but it's just kind of been like all good vibes this season so far.
00:14:28 It's the only undefeated team so far and we'll see if that's still the same tonight.
00:14:32 I could be saying this after a loss, but yeah, we'll see what happens.
00:14:36 But depending on who plays tonight, we already know at this point in time, Derek White is not playing and Nimesh Keita is not playing.
00:14:44 Chris Thompson's Portland against the No Shaver set, also questionable.
00:14:48 But the New England Baptist Hospital injury report is starting to get its money's worth this season.
00:14:52 Yep, terrible.
00:14:53 Starting to ramp up.

00:15:30 FanDuel, official partner of the NFL.
00:15:34 Not what you want to see, especially only five games in.
00:15:41 This will be game six. Guys on the injury report.
00:15:45 However, the reason that Christoph Porzingis is on the injury report is not something that you should be overly concerned about.
00:15:54 It's not a foot problem. It's not a knee problem. It's not a lower body problem at all.
00:15:58 Quite literally, towards the top of the body, almost as high as you can get.
00:16:01 An eye issue. Now, he was on the injury report with a stye.
00:16:07 What the hell are these guys doing with their eyes?
00:16:10 Joe Mazzuola on Saturday's game against the Nets had these glasses on.
00:16:16 Protective glasses because he had something wrong with one of his eyes.
00:16:20 And now Porzingis is having an eye issue.
00:16:23 Does nobody wash their hands on this team?
00:16:27 I feel like a stye doesn't have to do with anything.
00:16:30 It's a blockage of one of the oil glands.
00:16:32 I'm Googling. I'm not actually sure.
00:16:35 No, it's caused by an infection of the oil glands in the eyelid.
00:16:39 So maybe it is. I don't know. I've gotten styes before.
00:16:42 It just feels like it sucks. Yeah, it just feels like, you know, itchy.
00:16:46 Yeah. So it's like you just keep doing one of these, but it just doesn't stop itching.
00:16:51 Yeah, I know. Mazzuola's thing, though, he dealt with eye irritation at some point last year, too.
00:16:55 So I think it's just like he has got hit in a pickup game.
00:16:58 Yeah. Scratch cornea. We'll see what happens.
00:17:01 I can't imagine this would keep them out for too long.
00:17:03 And Porzingis could play through it.
00:17:05 Next thing which came in as Sam was talking, Jason Tatum, one player of the week for the NBA.
00:17:10 Oh, hooray. NBA player of the week alongside Steph Curry for the Western Conference.
00:17:15 Tatum led the Celtics to a three and a record thirty one seven points, nine seven rebounds,
00:17:20 fifty four point two percent, three point percentage, which is not something you see often from Jason Tatum.
00:17:26 So shout out to him. Other nominees, which was posted by the NBA Communications Twitter account.
00:17:31 Randall? No. In the East, Scotty Barnes, Joel Impede and Kelly Oubre from Philly.
00:17:36 Tyrese Halliburton, Donovan Mitchell, DeJounte Murray and Cam Thomas from Brooklyn.
00:17:40 But again, it was Mr. Jason Tatum who took it home.
00:17:43 Playing just crazy well and maybe his career.
00:17:49 Agree. Maybe we have a down game or he has a down game against the Timberwolves.
00:17:53 Like as we are, you know, this is after that.
00:17:55 But in general, Jason Tatum has been on a mission this season and he hasn't even been efficient.
00:18:01 Like this past week has been very efficient, but he hasn't been efficient the whole season.
00:18:04 Like he's had a couple down shooting nights, but it doesn't matter because he's just he's attacking the offense.
00:18:10 Well, we did a whole video on it, so it feels good to see him playing the way that fits him best and utilizing his strengths.
00:18:17 Just playing smart and he's playing efficient.
00:18:20 The post has just changed my life, dude. I just can't express how thankful I am.
00:18:25 It is, you know, Thanksgiving is almost upon us.
00:18:28 Like sit down at the table. Thankful for post-ups this year.
00:18:31 That's that's what you want to say.
00:18:33 And you all go around and say, I'm thankful for this, that.
00:18:37 Three point percentage being 54 percent is unreal.
00:18:40 He's he's just so much better than he's ever been.
00:18:42 He's been incredible. Shout out to Jason Tatum.
00:18:45 Hopefully he keeps it up for the entire season because that will be the key.
00:18:48 I kind of hope he plays terrible today.
00:18:50 So people come back and watch this and it's just me trashing him after they lose to Minnesota because he was bad.
00:18:57 And it's just like just God's son, man.
00:18:59 He's been so good.
00:19:01 Well, comment what you think of Sam's takes and make sure to put what's popping at the front for a chance to win free popcorn.
00:19:06 Anyways, let's check in with our emails now.
00:19:09 We can go on over there.
00:19:10 We're going to start with an email that hand up our bad.
00:19:13 We missed we missed an email a long time ago from Christian because it went to our spam inbox.
00:19:21 So, Christian, if you're listening, still, if you're still listening, which you've emailed us since this, we apologize.
00:19:25 We didn't see this.
00:19:26 I saw we had a spam email and I just didn't know what it was.
00:19:29 And it's from October 13th.
00:19:31 So excuse me, we apologize.
00:19:33 He said, hey, fellas, been listening to the pod for a while and decided to ask one of my questions.
00:19:36 Really sorry we didn't see this.
00:19:38 It just went to our spam for some reason.
00:19:40 There have been several discussions about what the starting five will be.
00:19:42 My question is, what do you think the starting the closing lineup will be on the stretch of games?
00:19:45 There were several games last season where Derek White was on the bench on the stretch.
00:19:48 You see the happening again this year.
00:19:49 It will be matchup dependent.
00:19:50 Keep up the great work.
00:19:51 Go see is from Christian.
00:19:52 Well, I mean, we can still talk about this because I think it still will change in certain matchups.
00:19:57 Again, we hand up our bad.
00:19:59 We missed the C.S.
00:20:00 Christian.
00:20:02 But you've seen different closing lineups throughout the season.
00:20:05 Christopher Zingas fouled out one.
00:20:07 So Horford had to close.
00:20:09 Derek White's been in there for the majority of it.
00:20:12 Obviously, Derek White didn't play last game.
00:20:14 So you saw Horford instead.
00:20:16 Based on what we've seen so far, because now we at least have a sample size to base our opinions on.
00:20:20 What do you think the closing lineup should be?
00:20:22 Or do you think it should depend on matchup?
00:20:24 Well, I think it should depend on not not so much matchup, maybe a little bit matchup, depending if you really, really need to have Horford out there.
00:20:32 But it really should just go into who's playing well today, who's efficient, who's making the right plays and who has it going, quite simply, because that's what makes the most sense.
00:20:43 And just about any basketball situation, of course, you're going to have to put your guys out there to a certain extent, especially on like a normal team that doesn't have like five players that you could consider being at the very least a two on a championship team.
00:20:59 Maybe. Would you say that? Would you say that's a wild thing to say, Jack?
00:21:03 Repeat that.
00:21:05 So I think every single player in Boston starting five could be a number two at the very least on a title team.
00:21:13 Thoughts? Maybe top three. I don't know.
00:21:18 I think at least top three.
00:21:21 I think given the right situation, you could probably argue top two.
00:21:24 I think as much as I am a fan of Derek White, you just haven't seen it as much with him.
00:21:27 I think him and Chris Stopspurs have the questionable of, you know, maybe they're more of a three.
00:21:32 But I do think they would be capable of it given the correct opportunities.
00:21:37 So, yeah, I don't think that's a completely outlandish thing to say. I'll back it.
00:21:40 I can agree with it. But I the issue for me is I don't think you can take Derek White out of the closing lineup now with how consistent he's been in this.
00:21:50 This was a conversation we've had like for the past two years with Derek White. Like he's just so.
00:21:57 Adaptable is not the right word. He's so able to play any role you need him to play like it like that's a perfect word.
00:22:05 I know, but that's not the word I was looking for is the point. Flexible, maybe regardless of the word.
00:22:13 He's too good not to close, and I think that stands now, even though you have two other talented players in Porzingis and Holiday in the mix over whatever else you had.
00:22:23 So I don't think you can pull Derek White from the closing lineup.
00:22:27 I also don't think you can not close with Chris Stopspurs, Ingus or Drew Holiday if they're healthy.
00:22:33 But then I don't think you can take the Jays off the floor. And so that's where it's difficult, though, because at the same time, if you're playing Joel Embiid, you really need Horford out there.
00:22:41 And so that's that's the tough decision. At that point, I think you would end up pulling.
00:22:47 One of Drew Holiday, Derek White or Jalen Brown off, because I don't think you can close without Chris Stopspurs, Ingus because of the way he changes the Celtics offensive looks and defensive look like he's just he's too important at this point to everything they do.
00:23:01 Not saying they can't win without him. Like, obviously, there's enough talent there, but like. He makes a good offense into potentially the best offense ever, right?
00:23:11 Like, and the same thing with the logo threes, seven foot three, it completely changes it.
00:23:16 So I think if you're playing an Embiid or Giannis or somebody that you need Horford out there to defend, you take out one of Drew, Derek or Jalen Brown, and I'd be tempted to say one of just Drew or Jalen Brown because I truly believe like Derek White's shooting and defensive presence.
00:23:36 And I'm not saying Drew and Jalen are bad at those things, but we know my thoughts on Derek White. So I think if you need Al Horford on the floor, you take out one of Drew or Jalen Brown.
00:23:47 Whoever is not shooting well that night or whoever has had an awful night with turnovers or like you were talking about, and that's where you put an Al Horford.
00:23:54 But I think outside of those very niche circumstances where you need one of those two on the court to guard guys that or you need Horford on the floor to guard one of those guys, then you just roll with the starting five as the closing five and keep Horford on the pine.
00:24:09 Because it's the starting five has been great. So that's my thought.
00:24:12 It has been great in Horford has been steady, but not the best he's ever been for the Celtics. The efficiency is kind of down, even though against Brooklyn he wasn't half bad.
00:24:22 But before that he was shooting in the 30s as a big guy, not necessarily what you want.
00:24:27 But defensively, we haven't seen him tested just yet with a massive task of guarding an Embiid or Giannis. Hopefully he's still able to hold up there because that's truly the most important thing he's going to do for the Celtics is play defense on those guys.
00:24:42 I think if you're looking for somebody to take out of the game at that point, it just depends on the day.
00:24:47 I don't think there's any simple answer to it, or that is the simple answer. It's there's no set in stone answer where it's the same guy every day.
00:24:56 It's Oh, Jalen Brown sloppy today. Okay, he can sit out. Derek White doesn't have it. Okay, he can sit. Drew's kind of firing too early in the shot clock not making his shot.
00:25:06 Yeah, I'll back it. I think I think that's the way they have to approach it. As the season goes on and we'll see how Joe Mazzola decides to attack those matchups with Embiid and Giannis and stuff.
00:25:21 But for now, it'll have to be based on what they need. And the starting lineup doesn't look like it's slowing down anytime soon, barring somebody being out. So we can go with that.
00:25:31 So let's check in with some of our more recent emails because we do have some of those as well. Practice your Chinese for real evening, guys. I ran across this and figured Sam should hear it, but off air, maybe.
00:25:43 Okay, we'll leave that for off air then. We don't read these emails before we go but we'll check that out when off the pot.
00:25:51 On the next episode of What's Poppin? Good morning guys. Congratulations on the In Popnito sponsorship in the email segment. Nice to see HBTC Media Empire to continue to grow.
00:25:59 Today popcorn, tomorrow Drew Carter's hair product. Maybe we'll have to know that. Seriously, I love the guy's calls in his comic book pop culture references that befuddle scalpel can someone help him with his haircut looks like an unfortunate azing prank on the rookie announcer.
00:26:11 Just make him bring everyone donuts instead. Not that I should talk I look like a hippie Wilford Brimley these days.
00:26:19 On to game stuff. Let's start with a Celtics good own god of mischief low key Luke Cornette doing his best Rob Will impression against Brooklyn 55 shooting from inside the arc in a restricted area to graphic on mv.com so it must be true.
00:26:33 Shout out Luke Cornette. I agree with Jack's assertion that Luke isn't going to add features to his game that will transform him into a starter but I can see him following in Derek White's development path and refining and extending his skills to become more helpful to the team.
00:26:46 I'm still waiting to see preseason Peyton become regular season rabbit. I don't know where the disconnect is if it's him facing more first drinks players, or he's not taking charge among the starters more forcibly or just Jalen Brown's tendency to hold the ball longer in the possession than Tatum and holiday.
00:27:00 Whatever it is if he continues he could play himself into being trade made for Alex Crusoe maybe KP with the quote real technicals already is this a new manifestation of the refs a Daniel ties but for Latvians, maybe love the tour date concept but will absolutely buy Julius Randall North American t shirt, maybe Pete Rogers banner 18 could make one speaking of Pete Have y'all ever had him on the pod we have had Pete Rogers on the pod.
00:27:21 Make sure to tune in. If you want to check it out and we'll probably have to have them on again this year because he's making the decisions.
00:27:27 He's back. He's got to be not much in the state of RG this week so give you a view from a window showing sunrise over the East Bay along with our storage shed from the foreground, our, our outbuilding was not the star of the B grade horror movie murder shed, just like it looks like it was this is an awesome view.
00:27:42 This is a very cool you shout out to you RJ.
00:27:46 Be well RJ Thank you RJ pretty usual and yeah Luke Cornette was awesome. Fun to see and I agree with all of your takes on Pritchard and Pete Rogers, making a Julius Randall tour de Jersey.
00:27:57 What's popping small sample size quiz with results the I thank you for emphasizing the with results portion of the email.
00:28:04 Morning guys five games is enough to do a stats quiz right pair the Celtics player with a stat per 36 minutes that lead the team in okay I'm going to read these out then we'll do it for the audio listeners say, sure.
00:28:15 The stats are a points, B three point attempts, see free throws made D offensive rebounds, he blocks emphasis and then the players, Chris stops for Zingas Delano Banton Jason Tatum schema Kyle Lamar Stevens Peyton Pritchard answers way below the signature of you are.
00:28:32 Okay, I know one of these answers already said, because I've seen RJ tweet about it.
00:28:50 Points is Jason Tatum we know that so we can we can cancel it out Tatum is leading the team in points.
00:28:58 Correct her 36 minutes per 36 minutes is a wrinkle huh I think it might.
00:29:05 How many games is Donovan played in well he was bad in the Wizards game.
00:29:10 I think it was still points.
00:29:12 I don't know man could be a shout.
00:29:15 - No, Tatum has to be three point attempts, right?
00:29:18 - Tatum has to be either points or free throws
00:29:21 and so does Chris Dobbs.
00:29:23 Svih Makailu is 1000% three point attempts.
00:29:26 That man came in and he was firing.
00:29:29 So he has to be three point attempts.
00:29:31 - Okay, Svih is three point attempts, I'll back it.
00:29:34 Sure, yes.
00:29:35 Blocks, blocks is an intriguing one
00:29:40 'cause I don't know how many blocks any of these guys.
00:29:42 I think Prichard is assists, definitely.
00:29:43 He's like third on the team in assists as it is.
00:29:45 So he has to be assists.
00:29:46 - I think, yes.
00:29:47 - So Prichard has to be assists.
00:29:49 Svih has to be three point attempts.
00:29:50 Offensive rebounds.
00:29:53 I think Banton might be points.
00:29:54 I think you're kind of right.
00:29:56 I low key think Banton might be per 36 minutes points.
00:29:59 - Yeah.
00:30:01 - So I'll go with that.
00:30:03 - Chris Dobbs blocks.
00:30:06 - Yeah, and then Tatum.
00:30:08 - Free throws.
00:30:09 - Free throws and that would leave what?
00:30:11 - Lamar Stevens is the offensive rebound.
00:30:13 - Oh, okay.
00:30:14 - Okay, I'll back it.
00:30:15 Let's see.
00:30:15 Let's see how we did, shall we?
00:30:17 - Let's see.
00:30:18 - A three.
00:30:19 - Oh, he did us dirty.
00:30:20 - A is Tatum.
00:30:21 Okay, we should have known that.
00:30:22 Our bad.
00:30:23 B is four.
00:30:24 So three point attempts is Svih Mikhailov.
00:30:26 We got that.
00:30:27 C is two.
00:30:28 Free throws made is Delano Banton.
00:30:30 - Okay, so we had them switched.
00:30:32 - Sure.
00:30:33 D five.
00:30:34 Offensive rebounds, Lamar Stevens.
00:30:36 Yep.
00:30:36 - Okay.
00:30:37 - I had E one F six.
00:30:39 E blocks is Chris Dobbs and yeah, assists is Prichard.
00:30:42 So we just had Tatum and Banton switched.
00:30:44 - Solid outing from us.
00:30:46 - Yeah, well now I want to know how many free throws
00:30:49 made per 36 Delano Banton is averaging.
00:30:51 So I'm going to go look at this really quick.
00:30:53 - It's gotta be like at least eight then.
00:30:55 I feel like Tatum's got a lot.
00:30:57 - Yeah.
00:30:58 Let me see here.
00:31:00 Per 36 minutes, free throws made.
00:31:04 Delano Banton is averaging six free throws
00:31:06 made per 36 minutes.
00:31:08 Yeah, that's a-
00:31:11 - 36 stats are something special.
00:31:13 - Oh, okay.
00:31:15 Well, we weren't too far off.
00:31:15 Delano Banton is third on the team
00:31:17 in points per 36 minutes at 26.
00:31:19 And Lamar Stevens is second at 27.
00:31:22 So we weren't too far off.
00:31:23 We were close.
00:31:24 Anyways, thank you, RJ for the email per usual.
00:31:26 Next thing we have here is something
00:31:31 that Sam put on the sheet that TD Garden
00:31:33 is had a perfect transit score.
00:31:36 Like in terms of getting to the game.
00:31:38 Sam's messing with the background.
00:31:40 What is this TD Garden thing?
00:31:43 What is this?
00:31:44 - So I was on Twitter today and I saw that axios.com
00:31:49 ranked some of the NBA or all of the NBA arenas
00:31:55 to which were most transit friendly.
00:31:58 Quote reads, "TD Garden Capital One Arena,
00:32:00 Wizards and Barclays Center Nets
00:32:02 are among the NBA arenas with perfect transit scores
00:32:06 according to a new ranking.
00:32:08 Walk Score, a Redfin company
00:32:11 that promotes walkable neighborhoods
00:32:12 measured how well NBA arenas are served
00:32:15 by public transportation.
00:32:18 The company assigns a usefulness value
00:32:21 to the nearby transit routes on frequency,
00:32:24 type and distance between stops."
00:32:26 Now I put this on here because Jack is a frequenter
00:32:30 of the public transit to get himself to TD Garden
00:32:34 when he's there covering games.
00:32:35 So I wanted thoughts from a loyal commuter
00:32:39 on TD Gardens perfect transit score.
00:32:42 - Yeah, listen, the T sucks.
00:32:46 I'll put it that way.
00:32:47 It just, that said, it is unfair to compare it
00:32:52 to some of these other cities
00:32:53 'cause most of these cities just don't have a Metro.
00:32:57 Like they don't have a train that gets me to that city.
00:32:59 So you see Spurs as like second as last year,
00:33:04 that's 'cause they don't have a train to get people there.
00:33:06 It's like the public transit score is the bus or something,
00:33:10 which is probably much worse.
00:33:11 And it's probably not as frequent
00:33:12 because everything's further away in Texas.
00:33:14 And so it makes sense that the cities you see up top,
00:33:17 which in this case, Boston, DC, Brooklyn, New York, Toronto,
00:33:22 all have public transport.
00:33:23 Like they all have a train that can get you there.
00:33:25 So I had a conversation with this,
00:33:28 with a buddy last year or whenever it was.
00:33:30 And he was saying like only like 25 cities in the US
00:33:32 have a train, like have a T or a subway.
00:33:37 And as much as the T sucks and there's delays
00:33:40 and it's never on time and all this stuff, blah, blah, blah.
00:33:43 I love the T because it makes everything a lot easier
00:33:47 in the grand scheme of things in terms of like,
00:33:49 especially I don't live in a city yet, I plan to,
00:33:52 but like if I lived in the city,
00:33:53 I could just walk to a T station
00:33:55 and not have to worry about driving anywhere.
00:33:56 And it would make my commute a lot quicker,
00:33:58 make it a lot easier.
00:33:59 I wouldn't have to pay for parking.
00:34:00 Like I enjoy the idea of the T
00:34:05 and I like that it's accessible to me
00:34:08 and I like that it's an option.
00:34:10 It does suck.
00:34:12 Like I can still complain about it,
00:34:14 but I get why it's 100 here
00:34:16 because when you're comparing it to cities
00:34:18 that just don't have a subway,
00:34:19 like, yeah, it's gonna look a lot better.
00:34:21 So like I understand.
00:34:22 - I wish I had a subway, dude.
00:34:23 It would be so fire to get a subway
00:34:25 just across Rhode Island.
00:34:27 - It's nice.
00:34:27 - Rhode Island's so small,
00:34:28 we could probably just pop subways everywhere.
00:34:31 They use subway around the whole state.
00:34:34 It'd be great.
00:34:35 - Yeah.
00:34:35 - What Rhode Island really needs,
00:34:37 this means nothing to you.
00:34:39 They need a bridge in the middle of the state
00:34:41 to go across from the East Bay to the West Bay.
00:34:43 Now, this is so inside baseball for people that live here,
00:34:48 but they have bridges down South
00:34:51 where Narragansett, Jamestown and Newport are,
00:34:55 where all the beaches are at.
00:34:56 And you can take the bridges to get across that way
00:34:58 or you have to go across from Providence on 195
00:35:01 and you get to the East Bay.
00:35:03 If you had a highway going from Warwick
00:35:06 to like Bristol or Portsmouth,
00:35:09 it would be the most fire thing ever.
00:35:11 - I mean, I don't-
00:35:12 - It'd be convenient for me.
00:35:14 - I don't drive to Rhode Island often.
00:35:15 I drive like once a week when we go to ball.
00:35:17 I refuse to drive through Providence.
00:35:20 I hate it.
00:35:21 It's awful.
00:35:22 It's horrendous.
00:35:22 - So 95 South is just not big enough.
00:35:26 It's not.
00:35:26 - Three lanes is a joke.
00:35:29 It's a joke.
00:35:30 - I refuse.
00:35:30 I will avoid it.
00:35:32 - I just can't wait to sit in traffic tomorrow
00:35:34 just thinking about it.
00:35:36 - Next thing we have, Jason Tatum recently
00:35:38 after he scored his 10,000th career point for the Celtics,
00:35:41 which we discussed last episode
00:35:42 on when we were talking about the Nets game.
00:35:45 Youngest Celtic to ever do it.
00:35:47 He mentioned that he didn't even want to come here
00:35:49 as a rookie, which is something like Sam informed me.
00:35:52 He talked about in the past, which when Sam said it,
00:35:55 I remember the quotes,
00:35:56 but Tatum said, "Man, I was ignorant when I got drafted.
00:35:59 "First of all, I didn't even want to come
00:36:01 "because I didn't think I was going to play."
00:36:02 They had Hayward, they had JB,
00:36:03 they had Isaiah Thomas, smart.
00:36:05 I didn't think I was good enough to be on that team,
00:36:07 which is kind of funny when you think about it
00:36:08 'cause he was like immediately the best player
00:36:10 on that rookie year team.
00:36:12 He immediately stepped in and like injuries,
00:36:14 obviously injuries were bad.
00:36:15 - Monster, monster showing in the playoffs
00:36:17 when everybody was out or the top two guys were out.
00:36:21 - Yeah, but like it kind of shows like the mindset you have
00:36:25 when you're a rookie,
00:36:26 like you just want to go to the best place.
00:36:27 You don't really care about winning as much.
00:36:28 You just want a place where you can prove yourself.
00:36:30 And luckily for Tatum,
00:36:31 he went to a place where he proved himself and also won.
00:36:34 So, I mean, this isn't like to shit on Tatum
00:36:38 or like anything, but like,
00:36:39 it tells you a lot about like how big situation is
00:36:44 when you're looking at rookies
00:36:46 and like what they could eventually be.
00:36:47 Like, let's say James Wiseman went to the Hornets instead.
00:36:50 Like his career could look completely different
00:36:52 when it does now.
00:36:53 And that's not saying, you know, the Warriors did a bad job.
00:36:55 They were just in a different place
00:36:56 and they couldn't afford to let him go through
00:36:59 some of those rookie challenges
00:37:00 that he inevitably had to go through.
00:37:02 And now it looks like, you know,
00:37:04 is he fading out of the league?
00:37:05 I don't even know how he's doing in Detroit this year, but.
00:37:07 - He has had five DNPs and one appearance for six minutes.
00:37:12 - Tough.
00:37:13 See, exactly.
00:37:14 So like you look at situation and it's kind of everything.
00:37:18 So good for Tatum.
00:37:20 Good that he got put in a good spot
00:37:21 and good for the Celtics
00:37:22 because they got a generational talent.
00:37:25 - A really good player.
00:37:26 - Yeah, it's funny that, you know,
00:37:29 this is what he mentioned
00:37:30 because it's something I think about quite a bit.
00:37:33 And I know we've talked about these guys in the NBA
00:37:35 go like their whole lives being the best guy
00:37:37 in every game they play in.
00:37:39 And then they come to the league and it's like,
00:37:40 hey, go stand in the corner and play defense.
00:37:42 And that's it.
00:37:44 Tatum probably didn't want to be corner defense guy.
00:37:47 So he was like,
00:37:47 I would really like a chance to prove myself.
00:37:50 And like you said, he got that and he did it on a big stage.
00:37:53 And everyone was like, this guy is the future.
00:37:55 Celtics gonna win zillion rings.
00:37:58 And they were half right.
00:38:00 No rings yet.
00:38:01 - Not yet.
00:38:03 Getting there, maybe.
00:38:04 We'll see.
00:38:05 All right, next, let's move on to the NBA part of our show.
00:38:11 And we'll check in around the league.
00:38:13 Let's check in at the standings.
00:38:14 Let's see how everything is.
00:38:15 And I found a graphic.
00:38:16 So Sam, I don't know how much of a YouTube guy you are.
00:38:19 Do you know Six Rings of Steel
00:38:20 makes YouTube videos and NBA stuff?
00:38:21 - Yes, I'm aware of that.
00:38:22 - So he posted his power rankings, right?
00:38:27 And I figured that could be a good place to start.
00:38:28 See how everyone's doing, see where he ranks them,
00:38:30 give our thoughts, see how everyone's, you know,
00:38:33 just checking around the league.
00:38:34 Still has the Nuggets won over the Celtics,
00:38:36 which you could say is a problem.
00:38:37 But the Nuggets have--
00:38:39 - One team has lost, the other team has not.
00:38:41 - That's also true,
00:38:42 which is why maybe you have the Celtics above.
00:38:43 But I'm not gonna complain too much
00:38:45 'cause the Nuggets have been like pretty awesome.
00:38:48 Like outside of that one loss,
00:38:49 they've just picked apart every single team they've played.
00:38:52 Like their offense looks unstoppable and they have it on
00:38:54 and it seems like at times they're just messing with teams.
00:38:56 Celtics are at two, Warriors at three,
00:38:58 Bucks at four, Sixers at five.
00:39:00 I'm not gonna read it all out here.
00:39:01 You know, yeah, I will.
00:39:02 I'll read it quick for the audio listeners.
00:39:04 Nuggets won, Celtics two, Warriors three,
00:39:08 Bucks four, Sixers five, Mavs six,
00:39:10 Lakers seven, Clippers eight, Suns nine, Pelicans 10,
00:39:14 Hawks 11, Cavs 12, Magic 13, Knicks 14, Pacers 15,
00:39:20 Kings 16, Thunder 17, T-Wolves 18, Raptors 19, Heat 20,
00:39:24 Nets 21, Spurs 22, Hornets 23, Pistons 24, Grizzlies 25,
00:39:29 Bulls 26, Jazz 27, Blazers 28, Rockets 29, Wizards 30.
00:39:34 So that's what six rings of steel has
00:39:37 for the power ranking so far.
00:39:39 Any issues with this, Sam?
00:39:40 Obviously you'd probably have the Celtics one,
00:39:42 we're a bit biased, but still they're undefeated.
00:39:44 But outside of that, any problems here?
00:39:46 Anything that stands out as why are they so high?
00:39:48 Why are they so low?
00:39:50 - Power rankings are always tough because--
00:39:52 - Subjective, yep.
00:39:54 - It's subjective and it's like,
00:39:55 what are you basing it off of me?
00:39:58 I immediately pulled up the standings and I was like,
00:40:00 well, Milwaukee's probably too high from being three and two.
00:40:03 They almost lost the Knicks, we're nearly two and three.
00:40:06 They haven't been very good on defense.
00:40:09 You could argue Philly has been better than Milwaukee.
00:40:12 - I will say--
00:40:13 - They might be more impressive than Milwaukee.
00:40:15 - In the replies, he was asked about Memphis
00:40:17 not being last 'cause at the time
00:40:18 they hadn't won a game yet or whatever.
00:40:21 And he said they're missing John Morant still.
00:40:22 I'm not ready to say they're the worst team because this.
00:40:24 And then his explanation was,
00:40:26 the Grizzlies with John Morant are top 15.
00:40:27 The rankings take that into account.
00:40:29 I don't wanna move teams so much for no reason.
00:40:31 I don't wanna put them 30 and then 15 two weeks later.
00:40:34 So I think there is still a little bit of,
00:40:35 okay, the Bucs should be good.
00:40:37 They've struggled a little bit,
00:40:37 but I'm not gonna drop them below teams
00:40:39 that are clearly worse than them.
00:40:40 So I think that's like part of it is he just thinks
00:40:43 the Bucs are better than the Sixers,
00:40:44 which is probably a fair assessment.
00:40:47 But right now I think the Sixers
00:40:49 are playing better than the Bucs,
00:40:50 but this is, I just wanted to add that context
00:40:52 that he's probably taking a broader thing into account
00:40:55 just for the people watching and listening.
00:40:57 - Sure, no, I mean, I get it then.
00:41:00 - Yeah.
00:41:01 - Just my mindset, I think Phoenix
00:41:03 is probably a little too high at this point.
00:41:05 They've had a pretty miserable start.
00:41:07 They've had injuries, yes. - Phoenix is better off.
00:41:10 - But they're three and four, 10th in the West.
00:41:14 They're not very deep.
00:41:16 And I mean, they lost to the Spurs twice.
00:41:19 - Yeah.
00:41:20 - Spurs is a team that people are predicting to be bad.
00:41:23 Spurs, kind of surprisingly good.
00:41:26 Yeah, three and three, one half game better than Phoenix,
00:41:31 who I just said is bad.
00:41:32 But it's all expectations based, right?
00:41:35 Just other quick standout teams.
00:41:38 - Shout out to Pelicans. - Charlotte.
00:41:43 - Charlotte and Sneaky appropriately placed.
00:41:46 Yeah, Sneaky, okay. - Charlotte's playing all right.
00:41:48 They're doing okay.
00:41:50 - Miami should probably be lower right now.
00:41:52 - I think they're better than all the teams below them.
00:41:55 - You know who they're below in the standing?
00:41:57 Charlotte.
00:41:58 - I don't care.
00:41:59 I'm not gonna put the Heat below the Hornets.
00:42:01 Until the Hornets finish the regular season
00:42:03 better than the Heat, I'm not putting them below them.
00:42:05 - Minnesota, kind of low.
00:42:07 - Minnesota's been all right.
00:42:09 - Kind of low for three and two, 5th in the West.
00:42:12 - See, that's the problem though.
00:42:13 - There's just not enough games.
00:42:14 - Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
00:42:16 You're saying three and three.
00:42:17 Well, I'm just putting this as context
00:42:18 'cause we're talking about the NBA anyways.
00:42:21 - But they beat Denver, that's a good win.
00:42:24 They're the best defense in the league.
00:42:26 That's impressive.
00:42:27 - Yeah, they're also like--
00:42:29 - They shouldn't be 18th.
00:42:31 - Who are you putting them over then?
00:42:35 That's the issue.
00:42:36 It's also objective-- - Put them over Phoenix
00:42:37 right now.
00:42:38 - No, I can't do that.
00:42:41 I don't care.
00:42:42 I understand that they might be playing better than Phoenix
00:42:46 at a certain time, but you also have to consider
00:42:48 Phoenix has been without Booker and Beal
00:42:50 for half their games in their small sample size--
00:42:53 - Where are the Knicks?
00:42:54 - The Knicks in his rankings are 14th.
00:42:58 - Better than the Knicks, that's for damn sure.
00:43:01 - And dropping.
00:43:02 He's a Knicks fan, I do know that,
00:43:05 which he has been vocal about.
00:43:06 - Prayers.
00:43:07 - Yeah, tough.
00:43:08 I don't know.
00:43:10 Excuse me, it's been a weird start to the year
00:43:11 for a lot of teams.
00:43:12 A lot of teams struggling, a lot of teams below
00:43:17 where their expectations should be.
00:43:18 Some teams outperforming.
00:43:19 Hawks and the Magic, both four and two.
00:43:21 Magic look like the team a lot of people
00:43:23 thought they could be.
00:43:24 Hawks are a weird one.
00:43:25 It feels like they might not,
00:43:28 that feels like a fake four and two to me.
00:43:31 I haven't watched two too much, but like--
00:43:33 - Beat Milwaukee.
00:43:34 - You know, maybe I'm talking out of my ass.
00:43:35 What's their plus minus on the season so far?
00:43:37 They actually had a really good plus minus,
00:43:38 so maybe it's not as fake as I thought.
00:43:40 The Bulls are a minus 61 on the season,
00:43:43 which is kind of impressive.
00:43:44 - Pretty good.
00:43:45 - That's, dude, I need a small rant.
00:43:48 I need a small second here.
00:43:49 So I write about the Bulls and the Spurs and the Pacers.
00:43:53 I write about the Pacers for "Fans Sided."
00:43:55 I write about the Bulls and the Spurs for "USA Today."
00:43:58 I hate the Bulls.
00:44:01 I, this is not a hate my job.
00:44:04 I'm grateful that I get to do what I do.
00:44:07 I have written three,
00:44:08 "The Bulls are delaying the inevitable" articles
00:44:11 because that's all anybody is talking about.
00:44:13 I've, when looking for content to write about,
00:44:15 I've seen at least three to four different videos saying,
00:44:19 "Why are the Bulls delaying their rebuild?
00:44:20 They suck."
00:44:21 'Cause they suck.
00:44:23 They're so bad.
00:44:24 They are top one.
00:44:26 Wouldn't want to be a fan of their team.
00:44:28 It's incompetence.
00:44:30 It is not talent.
00:44:32 It is a complete deny mindset of,
00:44:36 "We suck, let's rebuild."
00:44:38 They have good assets to rebuild with
00:44:40 'cause everybody on their team could be of use
00:44:43 to a contender if you put them in the right spot.
00:44:45 Zach LaVine, not a one option.
00:44:47 You make him the third option, we've talked about it.
00:44:49 Probably not too bad.
00:44:50 He can be an efficient scorer
00:44:51 when he's putting those right spots.
00:44:53 DeMar DeRozan could be the perfect piece
00:44:55 for a playoff team missing that closer.
00:44:57 Alex Caruso could literally fit in seamlessly on any team.
00:45:00 - Any contender.
00:45:02 - Any contender.
00:45:03 Nikola Vucevic making $20 million a year.
00:45:05 That's a really good contract for a guy
00:45:07 who is a double-double machine,
00:45:08 plays every game and can hit a three.
00:45:10 You put him in the right spots.
00:45:11 Exactly, exactly.
00:45:14 Who else is on their team?
00:45:15 Javon Carter, three and D guard.
00:45:18 Torrey Craig, three and D forward.
00:45:21 They have players up and down the roster
00:45:24 who can make an impact
00:45:26 and who teams would pay a first round pick,
00:45:28 a few second round picks, young talent for.
00:45:31 They have guys that can be traded.
00:45:33 And they're just cool with being bad.
00:45:37 Even Andre Drummond, having an okay season,
00:45:40 averaging like six points, five rebounds,
00:45:41 58% from the field.
00:45:43 Like a team could use him as a backup big man
00:45:45 if they need him.
00:45:47 And they're just like--
00:45:48 - Celtics.
00:45:49 - Content with doing nothing.
00:45:50 No, they're content with doing nothing.
00:45:53 And it's frustrating 'cause they're bad.
00:45:56 Their only two wins on the season are,
00:45:59 let me fact check myself here.
00:46:01 Their two wins this year are a win over the
00:46:06 Indiana Pacers, 112, 105.
00:46:10 And then an overtime win over the Raptors.
00:46:13 - Impressive.
00:46:14 - Almost everybody, or excuse me.
00:46:16 Yeah, over the Raptors,
00:46:19 where they were losing for 99% of the game.
00:46:21 And it was a one point game and Alex Caruso was a plus 29.
00:46:25 And the whole starting lineup was negative plus minus.
00:46:27 That's horrible.
00:46:29 They're so bad.
00:46:31 The Bulls stink.
00:46:32 They need to blow it up.
00:46:32 They could start like a really promising, fun rebuild.
00:46:36 Kobe White's not a bad player.
00:46:38 Patrick Williams is bad right now,
00:46:39 but you can see the archetype of a good player
00:46:42 if you give him all the opportunity he needs, right?
00:46:45 Who else is on their team?
00:46:47 They have like guys who you could see like,
00:46:49 okay, that'd be an interesting piece if they rebuild.
00:46:51 And he was given a lot of minutes.
00:46:53 Io Tsunmu, fun player, right?
00:46:55 - Lit up the Celtics a couple of times.
00:46:57 - He's a fun young guard.
00:46:59 Even they're like young, young guys, Julian Phillips
00:47:01 and their other rookie, Adamo Sanogo, a two way guy.
00:47:04 Like they have young players.
00:47:05 So you can see them giving minutes to.
00:47:07 You trade them to the Kings, you can get a young player.
00:47:09 You trade them to the Grizzlies.
00:47:11 They have plenty of young players.
00:47:12 They have too many guys.
00:47:13 You can get a couple of young pieces
00:47:14 in a draft pick for a player.
00:47:16 They have so many easy pathways to rebuilding
00:47:18 and they're just content with being terrible.
00:47:20 And it's really frustrating.
00:47:21 - Okay, see, team that could use a big like Vucevic.
00:47:25 Not to say Chet isn't good,
00:47:26 but Chet's also like the same weight as me.
00:47:29 And I'm six foot three.
00:47:31 - Yeah, but I think they'll wanna play Chet at center.
00:47:34 He's been really good this year.
00:47:35 He's been pretty good this year.
00:47:36 - He's been good, but he hasn't been able to defend
00:47:38 like the big guys like Jokic dominated him.
00:47:41 You know what I'm saying?
00:47:41 And I think OKC is a team that's capable
00:47:44 of competing somewhat now, right?
00:47:47 But they need that just reinforcement low.
00:47:49 People are like, they should go get Rob.
00:47:52 And I think that'd be fun.
00:47:53 But Rob also isn't like a defend the big man guy.
00:47:57 He's a Roman block shots guy.
00:47:59 So I mean, Chet could be that.
00:48:00 They could do that with Chet.
00:48:02 - I don't know.
00:48:03 I think they like him more as a traditional center.
00:48:04 I know he's gonna struggle like in the early stages
00:48:07 against him being Jokic,
00:48:08 but I think they like him there
00:48:09 because they had that flexibility.
00:48:10 I mean, he's averaging 2.3 blocks a game.
00:48:12 - No, he's long.
00:48:13 That's what I mean.
00:48:14 Imagine Chet is a roamer.
00:48:15 - I don't know if he's, I don't know.
00:48:17 I like him.
00:48:18 - Random thought.
00:48:20 Do you think the NBA and basketball in general
00:48:22 just renames positions soon?
00:48:24 - Nah.
00:48:27 - 'Cause you think, you don't think so?
00:48:29 - Nah.
00:48:29 I think people can refer to them differently.
00:48:30 - I just don't think anybody's really conforming
00:48:32 to these traditional position rules anymore.
00:48:34 It's really star player and role players.
00:48:37 That's it.
00:48:38 - Yeah, I guess.
00:48:41 I don't know.
00:48:42 I think they'll keep the position names.
00:48:44 People might not refer to it as much,
00:48:45 but I think we'll keep them.
00:48:47 Looking around the rest of the league
00:48:48 so we can stop talking about the Bulls.
00:48:52 - The Bucks have definitely struggled
00:48:54 a little bit more than people thought.
00:48:55 The Lakers have struggled a lot more.
00:48:57 They're not shooting well from three.
00:48:58 Who could have thought their offense would be bad?
00:49:01 Actually, that's a lie.
00:49:02 I thought their offense would be better
00:49:03 and it just hasn't been.
00:49:04 They have the structure of a good offense.
00:49:07 Last year, hand up my bad, I was saying,
00:49:12 oh, they'll figure it out.
00:49:13 They're talented.
00:49:14 But this year, you can't even say on paper
00:49:16 they should have a bad offense.
00:49:17 They have the right pieces to have a good offense.
00:49:19 It just hasn't worked.
00:49:21 And a big part of that is the half court hasn't been good.
00:49:24 Austin Reeves has been playing terribly.
00:49:26 D'Angelo Russell isn't making his threes.
00:49:28 Gabe Vincent's shooting less than 10% on threes.
00:49:31 So the guys who should be making shots just aren't,
00:49:34 which is killing them.
00:49:35 And they need that to turn it around
00:49:37 if they're gonna be better.
00:49:38 But that's been bad.
00:49:40 The Cavs have been kind of disappointing.
00:49:43 - They haven't-- - Got a Mitchell rumblings now.
00:49:46 Nothing legit, but people are like,
00:49:48 maybe, maybe he's in a league.
00:49:51 Who knows?
00:49:52 Pass that. - Julius Randle for
00:49:54 Donovan Mitchell, who says no.
00:49:55 - Let's just talk about that.
00:49:59 Julius Randle's horrendous.
00:50:01 - He's so bad.
00:50:02 This is the biggest Sam was right ever.
00:50:05 - For the longest time, I was like,
00:50:08 he's not great, but he's an NBA player.
00:50:11 You have to give him his respect.
00:50:12 No, I mean-- - Fake.
00:50:13 - And it's weird 'cause like-- - So fake.
00:50:15 - He's good every other year.
00:50:17 Have you seen that, like the whole thing?
00:50:18 Like he goes from-- - So in the Celtics,
00:50:20 oddly enough.
00:50:21 I feel like the Celtics overachieve every other year too.
00:50:25 Like, all right, let's do a quick Celtics rewind.
00:50:28 It'll take like 30 seconds.
00:50:30 2017, actually let's start at 2018
00:50:34 'cause they kind of overachieved in '17 too.
00:50:36 2018, Kyrie and Hayward get hurt.
00:50:38 They go in the playoffs, they almost make the finals.
00:50:40 2019, dumpster fire, disaster end of the season,
00:50:43 Kyrie leaves.
00:50:44 2020, they have that weird quick rebuild
00:50:47 with Kemba and Enes Kanter,
00:50:49 and then they make the Eastern Conference Finals
00:50:50 and probably should have won.
00:50:51 They probably could have won everything,
00:50:53 but still, overachieved where you would have thought
00:50:56 they would have been.
00:50:57 '21, disastrous season, Jaylen Brown gets hurt.
00:51:00 They lose in five games.
00:51:01 '22, make the finals.
00:51:02 No one thought that would happen.
00:51:03 They were terrible halfway through.
00:51:04 Last year, everybody thought they would make the finals
00:51:07 and they melted in the playoffs.
00:51:09 This year, nasty.
00:51:12 Five games in, nasty.
00:51:14 - But Julius Randall's stats, let me read these to you.
00:51:17 All right, so 2018, '19, still in the Pelicans.
00:51:22 Last year, New Orleans, 21 points,
00:51:24 eight point seven rebounds, three assists,
00:51:26 52 from the field, 34.4 from deep.
00:51:29 Not a bad season, right?
00:51:30 Okay, respect, fine.
00:51:32 First year, New York, 19 points,
00:51:35 nine point seven rebounds, three assists,
00:51:37 46% from the field, 27.7 from deep.
00:51:41 Not good, just not a good season.
00:51:43 Next year--
00:51:43 - Who can shoot better, me or him?
00:51:46 - 2020, 2021, 24 points, 10 rebounds, six assists,
00:51:51 45, six from the field, 41, one from deep.
00:51:54 He's back, he's good.
00:51:56 Next year, 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists,
00:51:59 41% from the field, 31% from deep.
00:52:02 Okay, Julius Randall.
00:52:03 Last year, 25 points, 46 from the field, 34 from deep,
00:52:08 10 rebounds, four assists, not bad again.
00:52:10 Okay, playoffs obviously, but not a bad season.
00:52:12 This year, so far, through six games, 13.7 points,
00:52:16 10.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 27.1% from the field,
00:52:21 22.5% from deep, bad.
00:52:24 Just so bad, he's so bad.
00:52:27 He's impressively bad this year, specifically.
00:52:31 - It's just like an all together,
00:52:33 like everything about,
00:52:35 anything you could find on Julius Randall
00:52:37 tells you he's bad.
00:52:38 Fan opinion, bad.
00:52:39 Statistics, bad.
00:52:40 Eye test, bad.
00:52:42 - Can we pull up this clip in the sheet from Reddit?
00:52:46 I'll pull it up.
00:52:47 - I got it, I got it.
00:52:48 - Okay, you better multitask.
00:52:50 - Yeah, just keep talking.
00:52:51 - This killed me because of the comment
00:52:53 that was attached to the clip of him,
00:52:55 but it's him and Emmanuel quickly running a pick and roll,
00:52:59 and it's a pick, but that's it.
00:53:01 It's only a pick.
00:53:02 You have quickly, and Julius Randall just stands there.
00:53:08 - See, obviously you blame Julius Randall here.
00:53:11 And I'm not saying you're wrong to not blame him,
00:53:13 but you do wonder if he thought it was just going to be
00:53:16 like an Emmanuel quickly takes the three,
00:53:18 or Emmanuel quickly drives and like a pick and pop,
00:53:20 but like, he's just don't know what he's doing.
00:53:25 - Julius Randall is also like a weird attitude guy too,
00:53:29 which makes it easier to hate on him
00:53:31 because it just feels like he's not really
00:53:34 like conforming to the whole team thing.
00:53:37 Like the Knicks on paper do have a very good roster.
00:53:40 They went out this summer and got better.
00:53:41 The addition of Devin Chenzo should help them out too.
00:53:44 Right?
00:53:44 - Have you seen this?
00:53:45 - But let's see, I'm not in the tab.
00:53:47 Oh, I saw this.
00:53:48 This is Julius Randall, mad as hell.
00:53:51 Context, Jalen Brunson, absolute heater of a game
00:53:55 to this point.
00:53:56 - Yes.
00:53:59 So I was about to give the context to the audio listeners
00:54:03 and I thought you were going to,
00:54:04 'cause I don't see you right now.
00:54:05 The context is New York's down by one point
00:54:07 with under a minute left.
00:54:09 I'm in the other tab, so I'm not.
00:54:10 - Oh, okay, okay.
00:54:11 I was like, we're doing this again with my camera.
00:54:13 I was gonna have a stroke.
00:54:14 - The Knicks are down by one point, 103, 104.
00:54:18 Jalen Brunson has the ball.
00:54:20 And like Sam said, Jalen Brunson's having
00:54:21 a really good game right now.
00:54:22 Jalen Brunson gets Dame on him.
00:54:25 Dame, who hasn't been very good on defense this year.
00:54:27 Gets in the paint, gets around, gets an okay shot.
00:54:30 Julius Randall, not happy with the shot.
00:54:32 Is just walking out of the offense.
00:54:36 Yeah.
00:54:37 And I will say, listen,
00:54:40 it is very clear he is guarding Giannis.
00:54:42 And so he is just like waiting for Giannis, right?
00:54:45 You know what I'm saying?
00:54:45 Like Giannis isn't even anywhere close to pass.
00:54:48 So you see Julius Randall tracking him.
00:54:50 You are down by one point
00:54:51 and you're not getting back to help on defense.
00:54:53 That's such a bad look.
00:54:55 And look at, it's so bad.
00:54:58 It's such a bad look.
00:54:58 - Not only does he not get back,
00:55:00 but it results in an and one.
00:55:01 Like he's not back on defense.
00:55:03 And listen, like you said, he's picking up Giannis.
00:55:05 If he's back, Mitch,
00:55:08 the court and try and block him on the drive.
00:55:11 - Yeah.
00:55:12 Also who's guarding Chris Middleton or yeah.
00:55:17 See, this is the problem.
00:55:19 He's supposed to be guarding.
00:55:21 - Well, it's four, nobody's running back.
00:55:24 - Yeah.
00:55:26 Everyone's jogging.
00:55:27 All these guys are just happy guarding their guys.
00:55:29 - He's not even like facing the right way.
00:55:31 That's where the problem lies.
00:55:32 - Yeah. Him and Quentin Grimes
00:55:33 are both checking Giannis right now.
00:55:35 I think Quentin Grimes assumed, okay,
00:55:37 Julius Randall will hustle back cover for me.
00:55:39 I'll guard his guy.
00:55:40 And Julius Randall's just watching.
00:55:41 - That's where you're wrong, kiddo.
00:55:43 - Yeah. Just a mess.
00:55:47 I'm also not convinced this was a foul.
00:55:49 I don't think this was a foul.
00:55:51 It's kind of a lame foul.
00:55:52 - And the Knicks blew this game, by the way.
00:55:54 They had this one and they just couldn't finish it.
00:55:57 - Yeah. I don't know.
00:55:58 Julius Randall stinks.
00:55:59 Sorry for the Knicks.
00:56:00 I also wanted to see who's playing well
00:56:04 for the Knicks right now.
00:56:04 Brunson, 25 points on solid, excuse me,
00:56:08 sorry, solid shooting, 42%, 39.5%.
00:56:12 RJ Barrett, 21 points on actually very efficient shooting.
00:56:14 He's been good in the four games he's played in.
00:56:17 Quickly, 15.8 points on okay shooting,
00:56:20 not shooting well from three.
00:56:21 Then there's Randall with his terrible efficiency.
00:56:23 Quentin Grimes is shooting all right.
00:56:25 It's just, Julius Randall stinks.
00:56:28 He just sucks.
00:56:30 - There was a good Reddit post about this.
00:56:32 Let me find it very quickly.
00:56:33 It should be right.
00:56:34 - Let me ask you this.
00:56:35 If you are the Bulls and you got offered Julius Randall
00:56:39 and two first round picks for DeMar DeRozan or Zach Levine,
00:56:43 would you do it?
00:56:44 - Probably.
00:56:47 Yeah, I think you're going to get more out of those guys
00:56:50 than Julius Randall.
00:56:50 The only problem is-
00:56:51 - No, I'm asking if you're the Bulls.
00:56:53 - If you're the Bulls?
00:56:54 Yeah, I guess if you're the Bulls, what's in it for you?
00:56:57 When does this contract expire?
00:56:58 - Tough.
00:57:01 - They do have the ticks though.
00:57:02 I think maybe I would do that.
00:57:04 'Cause if you're Chicago,
00:57:05 you would like to kickstart the rebuild.
00:57:06 - Julius Randall's got this year, next year,
00:57:08 and then a player option in '25, '26.
00:57:10 So it's not great.
00:57:13 Yeah, Julius Randall's under contract for a long time.
00:57:16 Knicks are in a tough spot.
00:57:18 What clip are you looking for?
00:57:20 - This is from a podcast.
00:57:22 They didn't really caption it,
00:57:23 but this is a quick breakdown
00:57:24 of what's going on with the Knicks.
00:57:26 - Sure.
00:57:27 - Person says, "I think the Knicks are a team
00:57:28 that's engaged in a civil war.
00:57:29 That war is between the guys who know how to play
00:57:31 and the ones who don't.
00:57:33 On one side, you've got Brunson and the Villanova guys.
00:57:35 You got Grimes, Hartenstein, Robinson, et cetera.
00:57:38 On the other hand, you have the hand of Julius Randall,
00:57:43 RJ Barrett, and Emmanuel Quickly,
00:57:44 guys that are just playing impulse basketball.
00:57:47 You can't get through a regular season on impulse basketball.
00:57:49 You can't get anywhere in the playoffs
00:57:52 on impulse basketball.
00:57:53 Top comment, Randall is in a war
00:57:55 against basketball in general.
00:57:57 - Yeah.
00:58:01 - He's been bad, and that's kind of all you can say about it.
00:58:06 Someone else who's been bad.
00:58:08 Damian Lillard, just not playing defense this year very well.
00:58:11 Excuse me, Brad Botkin of CBS.
00:58:15 He wrote this.
00:58:18 At the moment, to suggest Lillard is uncommitted
00:58:21 to playing defense would be an understatement.
00:58:22 In reality, the guy is playing some of the laziest,
00:58:25 flat-out worst defense of his career.
00:58:26 It's been borderline disgraceful at times.
00:58:29 Bucs are 25th in defensive rating.
00:58:31 They have a net rating of minus four.
00:58:33 In my responses, he's not a good defender.
00:58:38 Like, this isn't him being lazy or uncommitted.
00:58:43 He's just bad.
00:58:45 It's not a coincidence that his Blazers teams
00:58:47 have always been one of the worst
00:58:49 defensive teams in the league.
00:58:51 That's not to say he didn't have
00:58:53 a bad defensive team around him.
00:58:54 He did, but he was a part of the team too.
00:58:57 And so, it's almost going to make him look worse
00:59:00 when you put a good defensive team around him
00:59:01 because he is very clearly the weak link.
00:59:04 He's just not a good defender.
00:59:06 - Well, it's tough because Milwaukee has been a team
00:59:07 that's been built on the defensive identity.
00:59:09 Holiday being there was a huge piece of that.
00:59:12 Of course, you have Giannis and Brook Lopez involved too.
00:59:15 Now you lose Holiday, you get Dame,
00:59:17 who's this offensive superstar.
00:59:18 He is aging and he's making a ton of money
00:59:20 towards the back end of this contract.
00:59:22 And he's not giving you much on defense.
00:59:25 Your team is going to have to rework the way it works.
00:59:29 It's gonna be weird.
00:59:30 There's going to be growing pains.
00:59:32 There's a reason why they have a negative net rating.
00:59:34 It's because they're not quite comfortable just yet.
00:59:36 And it's so funny.
00:59:39 It's so, so funny because all summer it was,
00:59:42 Dame is gonna be a game changer wherever he goes.
00:59:44 Miami needs to get Dame.
00:59:46 Everybody was like, they shouldn't get Dame.
00:59:48 I was one of them.
00:59:48 I was like, they don't deserve this.
00:59:50 You know, they're not paying for him.
00:59:51 Milwaukee pays up.
00:59:52 Farron Square gets the guy.
00:59:54 And at the time it was like, does this really make sense?
00:59:57 Like if I'm Milwaukee last summer,
01:00:00 did you really need to go and do something?
01:00:04 Did you lose in the first round of Miami?
01:00:06 Yes, you did.
01:00:07 However, the last two seasons
01:00:10 after winning the NBA finals,
01:00:13 members of your core have been injured
01:00:15 throughout the playoffs.
01:00:17 Chris Middleton, knee problems.
01:00:19 This has an asterisk because he's consistently injured.
01:00:22 But last year Giannis hurts himself
01:00:25 halfway through the Miami series.
01:00:27 And then Miami rolls the rest of the Eastern Conference.
01:00:30 How much do you really have to put into that weight wise?
01:00:34 Do you really have to gut like the identity of your team?
01:00:37 I don't think so.
01:00:38 - Yeah.
01:00:44 I don't have anything else to add.
01:00:45 We said it this summer.
01:00:46 - It's just different.
01:00:47 It's not like the Celtics
01:00:48 where it felt like the Celtics hit their ceiling.
01:00:49 Like we all kind of knew it was coming.
01:00:51 We didn't want, like I didn't wanna see smart go.
01:00:53 I wasn't for it.
01:00:54 Still think it was like a morally incorrect thing to do.
01:00:57 But Porzingis has been a baller addition.
01:00:59 And then they went and got Drew Holiday on top of it
01:01:01 because Wick Grossberg was like,
01:01:04 "We can't win with this group.
01:01:05 "We need to shake it up
01:01:06 "because we keep hitting the ceiling."
01:01:09 And it's not a championship.
01:01:10 The ceiling is not a championship.
01:01:11 So they went and changed everything.
01:01:13 Milwaukee shouldn't have had that weird impulse.
01:01:16 - Yeah.
01:01:17 I see what you mean.
01:01:18 No, I agree.
01:01:19 And then, I mean, the Celtics went out
01:01:20 and got Drew Holiday,
01:01:21 which is going to be the funniest thing ever
01:01:22 if he clamps Damian Lillard in a playoff series.
01:01:24 That's just gonna be the funniest thing in the world.
01:01:26 Drew Holiday's been awesome.
01:01:27 Next thing, Draymond Green got kicked in the nuts
01:01:32 and it's really funny.
01:01:34 That's the takeaway.
01:01:36 That is what we're talking about right now.
01:01:38 It is the ultimate karma.
01:01:40 Draymond Green got kicked in the nuts.
01:01:44 And I saw a tweet that was like,
01:01:47 Draymond Green in his head,
01:01:48 "Oh my God, this is what I've been doing
01:01:50 to people for years.
01:01:50 Oh my God."
01:01:51 This is Draymond Green getting kicked in the nuts
01:01:54 by Jared Allen.
01:01:55 Against the Cavaliers.
01:01:59 - Oh no, Draymond.
01:02:01 - Yeah.
01:02:02 Bang.
01:02:03 - Wham.
01:02:04 - Down goes Draymond, not feeling too hot.
01:02:09 That's it.
01:02:11 I don't know if there's any deeper talk about this.
01:02:13 I think it's just kind of funny
01:02:14 that he got a taste of what he's...
01:02:18 Getting delivered.
01:02:19 - He was none too pleased.
01:02:21 The Draymond Green rule is only a rule
01:02:22 when Draymond Green is delivering.
01:02:24 Cool.
01:02:25 - Is that what he said?
01:02:25 - Yeah.
01:02:26 - I mean, kind of fair enough.
01:02:28 Like it's kind of true.
01:02:30 - Well, when you have like a,
01:02:32 "Hey, I do assault people every once in a while
01:02:36 on the basketball court reputation."
01:02:39 More eyebrows will be raised when you assault somebody.
01:02:43 They're like, "Well, he definitely meant to do that."
01:02:46 Jared Allen, the most notable thing about him
01:02:48 is Scal, every time he sees Jared Allen is like,
01:02:50 "Hey, he knows how to build a computer from scratch."
01:02:54 - Yeah.
01:02:55 - He's not out there hitting people
01:02:57 every time he's playing basketball.
01:02:58 He didn't stomp somebody last spring in the play.
01:03:01 Most electric moment I've ever seen,
01:03:03 but he didn't stomp anybody.
01:03:05 - He didn't.
01:03:07 This is true.
01:03:08 Last NBA thing we have.
01:03:09 - The stomp.
01:03:10 - The Heath court is potentially the worst thing
01:03:14 we've ever seen in our lives.
01:03:15 The Heath courts, I showed you this, right?
01:03:17 - Yeah, you showed me this.
01:03:18 - I'm gonna read you what it says in the Heath's paint.
01:03:22 For audio listeners, you heard me right.
01:03:24 The Heath wrote words in the paint.
01:03:26 "Hardest working, best conditioned, most professional,
01:03:29 unselfish, toughest, meanest, nastiest team in the NBA."
01:03:33 Sam, now- - First reply is fire.
01:03:35 I'm just looking at the screen.
01:03:37 - Yeah.
01:03:38 The first reply is just Tyler here on "Tucker Robinson."
01:03:41 Sam, have you ever been to Hallmark?
01:03:42 - No.
01:03:44 - Or do you know, you know what Hallmark is?
01:03:46 - They make the cards.
01:03:47 - This is- - In the movies.
01:03:50 - This is the equivalent of a 40-year-old white mom
01:03:55 putting "Live, Laugh, Love" hanging up in her kitchen.
01:03:58 - That is true.
01:03:58 Good call.
01:03:59 - This is the equivalent of someone putting like,
01:04:02 "Fall season is here," and "Love my mom," she does this.
01:04:06 Right? - Yeah, she's already
01:04:07 ready for Christmas.
01:04:08 It's November 6th.
01:04:09 - But this is the equivalent of that.
01:04:14 And it's horrendous.
01:04:15 And my favorite comment on this is this guy who pointed out,
01:04:19 this is a Pat Rowley quote from when he was describing
01:04:21 the '90s Knicks teams he coached.
01:04:23 - Oh no. - And they just slapped it
01:04:24 in the heat paint.
01:04:26 Even better is this man.
01:04:29 - Oh, no way!
01:04:31 When you finish talking, I was gonna say
01:04:33 they should do 55 burgers, 55 fries, 55 tacos, 55 pies.
01:04:37 - Yeah.
01:04:38 - Oh, I'm mad as hell that somebody actually did that.
01:04:41 - Yeah.
01:04:43 Yeah, this might be worse than the end season
01:04:47 tournament courts.
01:04:48 This is bad.
01:04:49 Yeah, this is the worst thing they've ever put
01:04:51 on a basketball court.
01:04:53 And I can't think of a better way to kick off the rat list.
01:04:55 So let's get into the rat list here and let's rock.
01:04:59 Sam, would you like to kick it off?
01:05:01 Would you like to start?
01:05:02 - I will start.
01:05:03 Let's see, which one should I start with?
01:05:05 Let's go down the list.
01:05:07 Okay.
01:05:10 So yesterday, me and some of the boys,
01:05:14 we went to see Bill Burr at Foxwoods.
01:05:16 First and foremost, Bill Burr, excellent.
01:05:19 Man delivered, great show, laughed my ass off.
01:05:22 He was excellent, per usual.
01:05:24 Now, I guess I'll go in chronological, Jesus Christ,
01:05:28 chronological order.
01:05:30 When we went to Foxwoods, we went to Guy Fieri's Restaurant.

01:18:59 We had just fouled.
01:19:02 I don't know.
01:19:02 It might've been Seth taking the free throw.
01:19:03 And they missed, whoever it was.
01:19:06 - Yeah.
01:19:07 - I got the rebound.
01:19:09 Again, we're down by one.
01:19:10 And Seth fouls me intentionally.
01:19:13 Sending me to the line with a chance to make a free throw
01:19:16 to put our teams tied at 10-10.
01:19:19 And I missed.
01:19:20 And I think the reason he did this,
01:19:22 well, he said like,
01:19:22 "Oh, I just didn't want to run back on defense."
01:19:24 But when we were shooting for teams,
01:19:26 when we were shooting for teams,
01:19:27 me and Henry just didn't make our free throws.
01:19:30 We just didn't.
01:19:31 So yeah.
01:19:33 And then we lost the game
01:19:33 because I missed the free throw at the end of the game.
01:19:35 All that stuff, blah, blah, blah.
01:19:36 And I know your take is always,
01:19:38 that's the one thing you should be able to do.
01:19:40 - Yes.
01:19:40 - Except not for me.
01:19:41 Because you probably grew up playing on travel
01:19:44 on all these teams and all these teams
01:19:45 and practicing those.
01:19:46 You didn't play basketball growing up.
01:19:48 - I didn't play track, I played rec league.
01:19:50 I played baseball.
01:19:51 Baseball was the thing I played as a kid.
01:19:52 - You played in high school.
01:19:53 You were on the high school basketball team.
01:19:55 Did you practice free throws
01:19:56 in the high school basketball team?
01:19:57 - Sure did.
01:19:58 - Exactly.
01:19:59 - Every time I warm up, I shoot free throws.
01:20:00 - Exactly.
01:20:01 I didn't do that.
01:20:02 I never made a basketball team.
01:20:04 So I was never like,
01:20:05 I never had to practice free throws.
01:20:06 I've only ever played pickup.
01:20:07 I played rec league and stuff,
01:20:08 but we practiced drills and fundamentals and stuff.
01:20:13 We didn't go over that.
01:20:14 If you're in high school basketball team,
01:20:15 you're obviously gonna practice free throws.
01:20:16 I never did that growing up.
01:20:17 So I've just never been good at free throws
01:20:19 because I was never required to practice free throws.
01:20:23 'Cause I was never good enough to make a team,
01:20:24 which Evan Turner pointed out on Twitter the other day,
01:20:27 which was funny.
01:20:27 - Yeah.
01:20:29 - Yeah, so I,
01:20:30 Rattless Seth,
01:20:30 is a good guy, Seth,
01:20:31 but motherfucker, he hack-a-jacked me
01:20:35 at the end of the game.
01:20:37 - Make your free throws.
01:20:38 - Credit to me,
01:20:39 I made all my free throws in the playoffs for men's league.
01:20:41 We just didn't win the championship.
01:20:42 We had a crazy ending in the men's league game.
01:20:44 This is not Rattless stuff,
01:20:45 but we were down three
01:20:47 and we had to do the free throw thing.
01:20:49 So we cut it to one
01:20:50 'cause the person missed the three,
01:20:52 worth does a putback, right?
01:20:54 So we're down one.
01:20:56 Guy makes both free throws for the other team.
01:20:58 No timeouts.
01:20:59 Ball is inbounded to me.
01:21:02 I'm dribbling down the court.
01:21:03 Meanwhile, the defense leaves this guy on our team
01:21:06 that has made eight threes, nine threes in this game.
01:21:09 The man hasn't missed.
01:21:09 I was like, oh my God,
01:21:10 I can't believe he's open.
01:21:11 I hit him and he made it to go to overtime.
01:21:13 Crazy reaction.
01:21:15 Half our team thought we won the game.
01:21:17 That was the last basket we scored.
01:21:19 We did not score in overtime.
01:21:21 (laughing)
01:21:22 We lost by 14 points.
01:21:24 - That's tough.
01:21:25 - But final personal Rattless is,
01:21:31 at this comedy show,
01:21:32 you have to put your phones in bags.
01:21:35 You lock your phones away.
01:21:37 So you can't be filming and releasing the jokes
01:21:40 and material before it goes up on a special.
01:21:42 The problem is we got there an hour before the show started.
01:21:48 So we were sitting there in our seats
01:21:51 with no access to our phones.
01:21:53 Lot of people watching.
01:21:57 Lot of, oh, who's gonna get the fat guy
01:21:59 to sit next to him?
01:22:00 - Okay.
01:22:03 - Joe almost perished,
01:22:03 but the person was in the wrong seat.
01:22:06 (laughing)
01:22:07 - Tough.
01:22:08 - Okay, we will wrap with this.
01:22:11 - Sure.
01:22:11 - I was on Reddit today.
01:22:13 - I have the video.
01:22:14 I think I pulled it up.
01:22:15 - You have it?
01:22:16 Is it actually playing the video or is it just a still?
01:22:18 - No, is this it?
01:22:19 - This is it.
01:22:20 - Okay.
01:22:21 Would you like me to play?
01:22:23 - Yeah, you can play.
01:22:24 - All right.
01:22:25 - I've had enough of this.
01:22:27 This punishment stuff is going to suck.
01:22:30 (laughing)
01:22:33 - This is a kid in a classroom talking to each other.
01:22:35 - Alpha.
01:22:36 - Talking to each other.
01:22:37 - Well, not how this works.
01:22:38 I am the teacher.
01:22:42 - The alpha takes priority over the teacher.
01:22:46 The alpha takes priority over everything.
01:22:47 Do you not know how that works?
01:22:49 - The teacher is telling the alpha
01:22:50 to sit in his seat right now.
01:22:52 - And the alpha doesn't have to listen
01:22:55 to what you have to say.
01:22:57 - Well, you don't have to listen,
01:22:59 but the consequences that follow
01:23:01 are going to still apply to the alpha.
01:23:05 The alpha doesn't take punishment.
01:23:08 - We'll see how well that works out in the world, okay?
01:23:11 - Dude, mad respect to the teacher
01:23:12 for not strangling the kid.
01:23:15 - Hale did that really well.
01:23:17 I love the, well, the alpha still has to listen to the teacher
01:23:22 and for audio listeners, this kid's high school,
01:23:26 like 15 years old.
01:23:27 - High school, standing there like Skip Bayless
01:23:30 with his fist clenched.
01:23:32 - That's fire.
01:23:33 - That's fire, all right.
01:23:35 That's all you got?
01:23:36 That's all we got?
01:23:36 - That's what we got today.
01:23:38 - Delete, love it.
