00:00 The Atlantic division will go through Florida at some point, right?
00:03 Whether that is in the first round or the second round, like that team looks like a
00:07 team that should contend for a top three spot in the division.
00:11 You know, talk about getting Brandon Montour back, Aaron Ekblad back.
00:16 You know, if Sam Bennett is going to escape his latest, you know, scare unscathed or relatively
00:21 unscathed, which kind of looks kind of doubtful, but you never know.
00:25 That's a team that they just have the firepower and the system and the structure to get in,
00:29 right?
00:30 And so to get an early season win over them, you know, that last year, like Florida was
00:34 their nightmare a year ago, even in the regular season, like those were not great games for
00:40 the Bruins.
00:41 Like, and so you still got to go down there and win.
00:44 I think that can do a lot for you.
00:46 You know, in the regular season as well, like make, make it so you're not white knuckle
00:50 riding every game.
00:52 But this is something that I think that like these kinds of games are going to help you
00:56 down the stretch.
00:57 Like these are playoff style games.
00:59 When you hold the Red Wings to one goal and 23 shots, you know, eight fewer than their
01:04 season average, the power play for Detroit vanished in a thin air, like had almost nothing
01:09 all night long.
01:10 You come back from being down to like, like those are the kinds of wins that I think this
01:14 team needed a bit more of last year, if that makes sense.
01:17 Like, cause I think that when they got punched in the mouth by the Panthers, they, it was
01:22 the first time they didn't punch the mouth in a while.
01:24 And they were like, wait, how do we recover?
01:26 How do we strike back?
01:27 And by the time they kind of got it going, it was too late.
01:30 Right.
01:31 And so I think that that is sort of, you know, to have more of these kinds of wins, especially
01:36 early, I think it's only gonna make you better and better in the long run for sure.
01:39 Absolutely.
01:40 And looking at that game, there was maybe one negative, both in terms of that game and
01:46 long-term you're going to be shorthanded on defense moving forward.
01:49 I mean, Matt Griswold is going to be out at least a couple of weeks, according to Jim
01:53 Montgomery, which is tough for him because it seemed like he was really kind of playing
01:57 his best hockey.
01:58 Jim Montgomery even mentioned that he was even getting like reps on the PK, getting
02:01 involved there.
02:02 So we all know how good he is with Charlie McAvoy as well.
02:06 So Griswold's going to be on the shelf.
02:08 And now again, it's not official yet.
02:10 I have to imagine that Charlie McAvoy is probably not going to play on Thursday against the
02:16 Maple Leafs after that high hit on Oliver Eckman-Larsen.
02:19 So you're pretty much without two of your top four defensemen going into, again, a pretty
02:23 key stretch here.
02:24 If it's more than one game for McAvoy, you're looking at him missing out against Toronto,
02:29 Detroit, Dallas is up next week.
02:32 So a tough hit there.
02:34 So it's not really any way you can kind of sugarcoat that, a bad play by McAvoy after,
02:38 I mean, guy went like Leroy Jenkins had a great goal and then immediately puts himself
02:44 in a bad spot there against OEL.
02:46 But how do you think they kind of adjust those absences?
02:50 Like who could you see getting called up from Providence to get a bit of a run here?
02:56 Isn't this the perfect time to see Mason Leroy?
02:59 Like wouldn't this be the perfect time to do that?
03:02 You go back to when they sent him down at the end of training camp and it was about,
03:05 they said they want him to play some minutes.
03:07 He needs minutes.
03:08 Okay, well, power play one minutes just opened up and LD one just opened up as well, or LD
03:15 two, depending on how you want to look at it.
03:17 And so I think that is sort of a, this is a natural spot to put Leroy up.
03:23 I know that they've talked, you know, there has been some talk of him coming up.
03:29 Montgomery said as much on Tuesday saying that he is in the mix.
03:32 You also have some safer options, so to speak with Ian Mitchell and Jake Saboural.
03:36 But with that schedule, you mentioned Toronto, Detroit, you got Dallas, like depending on
03:42 how long you're without McAvoy, we know you're going to be without Grizzly, but like depending
03:46 how long that is, I'd almost like to see, you know, a little bit of trial by fire here,
03:51 see what you got and then reassess.
03:53 And so this is a spot for him.
03:55 It reminds me a bit of, you know, back in 2007, 2008 years ago now, uh, the Bruins were
04:01 without Manny Fernandez and, uh, Tim Thomas and they had to call up 20 year old took a
04:07 rask.
04:08 He wasn't ready, but he got a win.
04:10 He also took some lumps, but like it, it, it, it was like, you got to do it right.
04:15 And this may be a similar spot where they go, listen, our options are, are we have Dan
04:20 runoff.
04:21 We have Ian Mitchell, we have Jake Saboural, we have Alcra Gula, and we got Mason Lowry
04:26 of that grouping.
04:27 I'd like to see low-ride personally.
04:28 Yeah, no, I agree.
04:31 It's something where it also depends on what the circumstances were.
04:33 And as you said, if this was like Derek forward, God, you know, hurt blocking a shot and was
04:38 going to be out two or three games.
04:40 Um, and it's a third pairing role and you need PK minutes.
04:43 I think that changes with Grizzly being out with McAvoy being out with those minutes up
04:47 for grabs higher up in the lineup with those power play reps, especially now is the perfect
04:51 time to see do have.
04:52 And again, if he struggles or there's going to be a few bumps along the way, like, I think
04:58 you can take that if a guy really builds off of it, like even like, look at, um, Potter
05:02 on Monday, right.
05:03 Got like, is got pickpocketed by such a bar cob, not the first NHL or to ever have that
05:08 happen, but he learns on the fly not to say that, uh, you know, Laura is going to match
05:13 up against Austin Matthews and he's going to just completely build off of it, or he's
05:16 going to be seamless in that role.
05:18 But now it's time to see what you have in a guy.
05:20 I mean, this it's one thing.
05:21 If this guy popped a few games during the preseason, it's a Testament to, I think how
05:26 quickly he's accelerated his timeline, but he was one of the last cuts like that.
05:29 They were really impressed by what he provided in terms of, um, you know, making this, the
05:34 simple, smart plays, you know, really working on his diesel and play.
05:37 You're going to need that.
05:38 And I think over the stretch where you're missing two, uh, defensemen who are really
05:43 mobile with the puck and really interject some energy.
05:46 It's kind of like what you said with like posture of what dynamic he's provided.
05:50 If you're trying to get an extra spot during this stretch here, where you're going up against
05:54 Detroit and Toronto and Dallas, if Laura can, can pop and can make a player to me that really
05:59 energizes your team, you'll take that.
06:01 And again, if that leads to him staying up here, if that leads to, he goes back down,
06:05 he's got the confidence to really build off of that.
06:07 And we see him back up here in middle of January for full time.
06:11 Like I think right now is the time to do it.
06:13 Cause again, like you could offer Mitchell and Ragula and all these guys, and it's probably
06:18 a safer route, but you already see it with Potter.
06:22 I might as well embrace, embrace the youth movement because really hasn't burned you
06:25 yet so far this season.
06:27 FanDuel is the exclusive wagering partner of the CLNS media network.
06:31 Right now, new customers get $150 in bonus bets with any winning $5 Moneyline bet.
06:40 FanDuel, official partner of the NFL.
06:45 Two of those games might be right up his alley.
06:47 They might be run and gun kind of games where, you know, he doesn't have to worry about,
06:51 they have to win the game two to one.
06:53 Like, like that might be, these might be two matchups, Detroit and Toronto where, you know,
06:59 Lowry is kind of in his element, right?
07:02 Like he's able to make some plays here and, and he doesn't have to worry about, you know,
07:06 ending up on the shelf or getting benched because he turns it over.
07:08 Like, so I just think that this whole season, this whole, this whole off season has been
07:15 about going with upside over what is safe, right?
07:18 It's the same reason why Johnny Beecher won the job over Patrick Brown.
07:22 It's why Jacob Loko won a job over Alex Jaison, you know, like, like there is a, there's an
07:28 element here of, of the Bruins going with upside over a safe over safety because, you
07:35 know, this is a kind of a found money kind of year for them in a lot of respects.
07:40 No one, no one thinks you're going to be very good or, you know, we did, but the general
07:44 public isn't like, it's not like, oh, this is another 62 win team.
07:48 So you got some wiggle room here and your eight, your eight Oh one, one that allows
07:52 you to take a little gamble here or there if you got to.
07:55 And I think right now you got it.
07:56 Like if you're losing Grizzlick and McAvoy, you need creativity on the backend.
08:01 So bring up the guy who, you know, can bring some of that to the rink every night.
08:04 And that's Mason Lowry for me.
08:06 Yes, absolutely.
08:07 And it's very funny how the narrative has changed that.
08:10 I think people were expecting a really painful year after this off season.
08:13 And now we're Bruins are sitting at eight Oh one, one, they've got Potra who's sticking
08:17 around here.
08:18 You have a potential top six center for the future.
08:20 Lowry could be in play like very quickly, how much of the narrative has changed and
08:24 all of a sudden a season that looked like it was going to be very bleak is normally
08:28 you're seeing results on the ice, but you have optimism for the future.
08:31 So it's very, it's very funny to how that does change over the span of maybe just a
08:36 couple of weeks here.
08:37 [inaudible].
08:43 [inaudible].
