Here is the weather forecast for Sheffield on Halloween night (October 31, 2023) so trick-or-treaters can make the most of the spooky season. The chance of rain should drop significantly by the time schools get out, meaning costumers shouldn't get ruined by the elements this evening.

00:00 Morning Sheffield, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star. I'm coming to you with a trickle
00:04 treating weather update. I thought I'd go through the weather map this morning and give
00:08 you an hour by hour breakdown of how the weather will look ahead of Halloween season this evening.
00:13 Trick or treaters might be looking at the pretty foul weather this morning and worrying
00:16 that tonight might be off but we've got some good news. So, what you're seeing right here
00:20 should be the absolute very worst of it for the rest of the day. School kids from around
00:25 Sheffield will be very pleased to know that all of the worst of the weather will be happening
00:28 while they're already in school. By the time they get out by about 3pm this should all
00:32 be over and done with basically. We're looking at a 20% chance around the city for near enough
00:37 the entire day up until the 3pm area where it should drop down to even 10% or less. It
00:42 should be by the time it's trickle treat season or it's time to go outside we should have
00:47 a significantly less chance of rain so kids should be able to get out, costumes shouldn't
00:50 be ruined too badly, we should be okay. Let's see here, so from 5pm it should remain dark
00:55 out but the chance of rain remains at about 10% for most of the city. There is a chance
00:59 of heavier showers on the south western side of the city, you should think Netheredge,
01:05 Greystones, Bensgreen, Millhouses, Woodhouses. This is set to dissipate quite quickly and
01:09 it could even move on by then, you never know if it'll actually land or not. But there's
01:13 a chance of that, it should be over with by then. I couldn't say when the actual optimum
01:17 time to go out for trick or treating is, some parents want to get out before 6pm and then
01:20 get the kids to bed, others want to go out a bit later, that's why we're doing this hour
01:23 by hour. Let's see, same reason, by 5.30pm it should have dissipated by then and be a
01:28 much lighter chance of rain across the rest of the city. Mistling areas in Hillsborough,
01:32 Crook, Stannington and Longley but overall the chance of rain in the rest of the city
01:37 should remain about 10%. At 6pm, well have some mist, mist, mist on Halloween, make things
01:43 extra spooky. 6pm, Forstcaster say there's a high chance of mist in Steel City to make
01:47 the conditions extra spooky for you trick or treaters out there. And again, a very low
01:51 chance of rain overall for the rest of the city. Any trick or treaters who happen to
01:54 still be out by 7pm, there's a low chance of rain in the north-east half of the city,
01:57 I think Hillsborough, my mind's gone blank, sorry, Hillsborough kind of side. But by then
02:03 the temperatures should have also dropped down by about 8 degrees centigrade and that
02:06 should be it for the rest of the day. And 8pm, if any trick or treaters are still out
02:11 by that hour, there should be little to no chance of rain for the rest of the evening
02:14 up until about midnight. I said midnight. Any students who happen to be going for the
02:19 night out tonight, there is significantly heavy rain, like absolutely soaking, arriving
02:24 in the city from the 11pm area and lasting all the way until 6am. That kind of covers
02:29 if anyone wants to go out for a Halloween thing night out or if you've put lots of work
02:33 into your costume, I'm really sorry, it's going to be absolutely soaking for about 11pm
02:37 tonight up until 6am in the morning. And things are looking better for Wednesday, definitely
02:44 wetter, not as wetter than this anyway, but I should say the absolute heaviest of it will
02:49 arrive in Sheffield from about 11pm tonight and we'll be hoofing it down until the very
02:55 early hours of the morning. So good news for the kids who should be able to get out and
03:00 enjoy the evening, bad news for the students going for a night out tonight, your costumes
03:04 are going to get soaked and I'm sorry. That should be it, thank you very much.
