Various strategic initiatives to assist the Indian community including aid for university students as well as special grants for those in the B40 group will be continued this year, says Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

Ramanan, who was also the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra) special committee chairman, said as part of a more comprehensive effort to assist the B40 group within the Indian community, the body had introduced a financial grant application programme for eligible organisations with an allocation of RM30mil.

00:45 The 100 million rupiah grant for the Indian and Malaysian community will be used optimally and smoothly
00:53 through various strategic initiatives that will give priority to low and middle income groups
01:01 through development of social and human capital and social welfare.
01:10 This is one of the initiatives that is in the implementation process for 2023.
01:18 The funds allocated for the efforts of the entrepreneurship and education programs
01:23 are an important step in the efforts to improve the social and economic development of the Indian community.
01:31 Programs such as the SME and SME SMEs Program, PMKS,
01:37 which received a grant of 5.2 million rupiah for the help of 1,000 small entrepreneurs,
01:44 Technical, Drone, Operations and Data Services Program, which received a grant of 1.48 million rupiah
01:53 to train 150 participants.
01:56 The funds allocated for the efforts are also included in the Electrified Automation Advancement Program,
02:05 which received a grant of 2.8 million rupiah for 250 participants.
02:12 This is a solid proof of commitment to economic development and education.
02:17 These initiatives play an important role in helping the Indian community to achieve better welfare.
02:27 We must not forget other important initiatives that provide benefits,
02:34 such as the Young Students' Education Subsidy at the Public University and the Private University,
02:43 which helps to reduce the burden of students in pursuing higher education.
02:49 As many as 10,000 students from the public and private universities
02:53 who are eligible will receive a subsidy of 2,000 rupiah per person in one payment.
03:01 So far, 5,500 students have received a payment of 12 million rupiah.
03:09 The status assessment process for 4,500 students is still in progress
03:15 and the payment will be completed after the process is completed.
