00:00Assalamu'alaikum and Salam Sejahtera,
00:03Ladies and Gentlemen,
00:05The Indicator Report on the cost of living in 2023, which was launched last year,
00:10includes the basic cost of living wage, PAKW and the cost-of-living index
00:16to strengthen the cost of living with more impact.
00:20To facilitate the people, the government has provided calculators as a guide
00:24to plan the cost of living and family finances.
00:28The application of MYPAKW can be achieved through the website
00:33mypakw.dosm.gov.my.
00:40Based on the report,
00:42there is an increase in the cost of goods and services to the people in 2023.
00:47In this regard, the government is very concerned about the challenges of the people
00:51to enjoy a fair life.
00:54Among the steps taken to address the issue of the cost of living
00:59through a short-term strategy is
01:02the contribution of Rahmah cash and Rahmah fund
01:05with a deposit of almost 13 billion ringgit,
01:09the implementation of the Rahmah umbrella initiative, 300 million ringgit,
01:13the programme to control the price of goods through entrepreneurs
01:18and various parties, 700 million ringgit,
01:21and the programme to diversify the price of goods in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan
01:28by 40 million ringgit.
01:31A simple and long-term strategy to overcome the cost of living
01:35focuses on various aspects,
01:38including introducing a progressive wage base
01:42to increase employee income while increasing productivity,
01:47increasing the minimum wage to 1,700 ringgit starting February 1, 2025,
01:54intensifying investment in the strategic sector to increase employment opportunities
01:59and providing ease of loan and deposit
02:03guarantees to small and medium-sized enterprises.
02:06The government, through the NAKOL State Livelihood Action Council
02:11under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Livelihood
02:15will continue to work to address the issue of increasing the cost of living
02:20by allocating funds to seven clusters,
02:24namely housing, education, transportation, utilities, health, food and income.
02:32The KPDN will also use the cost of living indicator as a mechanism
02:39to improve programmes such as the Rahmah sale
02:42so that it is more efficient and effective for the target group.
02:47The use campaign will also be initiated for smart purchases
02:53based on the need and avoid spending related to the cost of living.
03:07The cost of living indicator is a tool
03:11that can be used.
03:12What is more controversial is the issue of PADU.
03:15I want to ask a question.
03:17How does the government propose to use data from PADU
03:21to balance and reduce the cost of living?
03:26Please.
03:29Mr. President, PADU has a profile for all 30.1 million citizens
03:36and taxpayers still in Malaysia.
03:40It is the result of the integration of administrative data from various agencies
03:44including the information collected by the people.
03:47Among them is the demographic, employment, income,
03:51information on housing and social protection.
03:55With the latest and complete data,
03:57the government can frame the basics and socio-economic programmes
04:01that are based on and needed by the people.
04:04PADU's data analysis also allows the government to carry out
04:10effective monitoring and assessment
04:13to guide the people to face the challenges of increasing the cost of living.
