00:00Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a federal government allocation
00:07of 13 million ringgit for post-flood recovery in Kedah.
00:11The funds will be directed towards relief efforts, clean-up operations and the repair
00:16of infrastructure damaged by the floods.
00:19Of the total, 3 million ringgit has been designated for Kota Star, with the remaining 10 million
00:25ringgit allocated to the rest of the state for repairs and compensation.
00:30Anwar urged the National Disaster Management Agency, NADMA, the Implementation Coordination
00:35Unit and the Kedah State Secretary's Office to collaborate for swift action.
00:41On Saturday, the Prime Minister visited three temporary relief centres in Alor Star where
00:46over 1,300 individuals from 467 families affected by the floods in Kota Star are being sheltered.
00:55As of 8 am, the number of evacuees across 42 relief centres in six districts has risen
01:01by 734, bringing the total to nearly 7,500.
01:07Kota Star remains the hardest-hit district, with almost 3,300 displaced residents.
01:13Meanwhile, the Irrigation and Drainage Department's Public Infobanjia website reported that water
01:19levels in five rivers across Kedah are at dangerous levels.
01:23Although floods have also impacted Penang, Perlis, Selangor and Perak, the number of
01:28evacuees in these states has decreased due to improved weather conditions.
