00:00 Hello, very good morning to you. Storm Bebette has already brought a significant amount of
00:04 rain and some very strong winds and will continue to bring some exceptionally wet and unsettled
00:10 weather as we go through today, particularly across eastern parts of Scotland. Here we
00:14 have a red warning in force. Some places could see 2 to 250 millimetres of rain. This isn't
00:21 usual autumn weather, even for Scotland. It's an exceptional event. We are likely to see
00:26 some further significant impacts with severe flooding, damage to properties and communities
00:32 could be cut off for several days. But if we look at the details and across the rest
00:37 of the country, it's also a wet picture for many of us. Heavy rain across parts of northern
00:42 England into North Wales and Northern Ireland could lead to some treacherous conditions
00:46 on the roads through this morning's rush hour, especially when you factor in those strong
00:50 easterly winds. Gusts of around 60, 70 miles per hour around eastern coastal parts as we
00:56 go through the day. Always towards the east, that's where we're going to see the heaviest
01:00 rain because of the direction our winds are coming from. Into the afternoon, perhaps some
01:04 bright sunny weather across the far northwest of Scotland and some sunshine towards the
01:09 south-southwest of England, perhaps Wales too, but also a scattering of showers here.
01:15 Temperatures in the south will be a little bit above average for the time of year. Highs
01:19 of 16, possibly 17 Celsius, but it will be windy and further north it is going to be
01:24 markedly cooler and feeling unpleasant in the strong winds and the heavy rain. The wet
01:30 weather continues as we go through this evening and overnight. Heavy rain, particularly for
01:34 eastern parts. Further wet weather spilling into eastern Scotland again, so that is likely
01:39 to lead to some further issues here as we go overnight into Saturday. Some drier spells
01:44 towards the south and west, but a largely cloudy picture and with the wind, the rain
01:48 and the cloud, temperatures aren't going to drop much again. Again, it's going to be a
01:52 mild night for many towns and cities in particular in the south, staying in double figures, a
01:57 little bit cooler further north. Saturday then, a wet picture again, particularly for
02:02 eastern Scotland and northeast England. Whilst the rain won't be quite as heavy as through
02:07 today, it is still going to be pretty heavy for some of us and coming so close to the
02:11 exceptional rain event in association with Storm Bebette, we are likely to see some further
02:16 issues, particularly for eastern Scotland. Elsewhere, and as we go through the day, it
02:20 should turn a little drier for many places and the winds will start to ease down as well.
02:25 Still a scattering of showers for Northern Ireland and some heavy, perhaps even thundery
02:30 showers for southern coastal parts of England, but we should see some bright or sunny spells
02:34 developing and in these temperatures getting to a little bit above average for the time
02:39 of year, perhaps a touchdown compared to today for some of us. There's more information on
02:44 the warnings across our social media and our website, so it's worth keeping up to date
02:48 with those as they are going to get tweaked and updated as we go through the next few
02:53 days. I'll see you later.
