00:59 So Booker Pickett Jr. has chosen the University of Miami over the likes of Florida State,
01:07 Georgia, Ohio State and South Carolina.
01:11 He's a six foot three, 205, maybe 210 pound at this point, edge rusher out of Wharton
01:17 High School in Tampa, Florida.
01:20 Get this.
01:21 You look at Booker Pickett, not only the film, which we'll talk about, but the stats.
01:26 This guy is putting up Ruben Bain like sack numbers.
01:30 He's like the Tampa version of what Bain was at Miami Central.
01:34 So pick it.
01:35 Obviously, his senior season is not finished yet, so his high school career is still to
01:39 be continued.
01:40 But at this point, he's already got 70 high school stats.
01:46 I'm not even sure if I was looking at Max preps, so I'm not even sure if his senior
01:51 stats are completely up to date, but he's got 10 at least so far this year.
01:56 He had 30 sacks as a junior last year for Wharton High School.
02:01 Booker Pickett Jr.
02:02 Well-rounded athlete.
02:03 He's also played basketball, and we know that Miami's GM of football operations and former
02:08 Miami Hurricanes standout Alonso Highsmith, he's got on the record many times saying he
02:13 likes to recruit players that are multi-sport athletes.
02:16 He really thinks the cross training not only helps players athletically, but it helps the
02:21 discipline and all that good stuff.
02:23 This is a good multi-sport athlete.
02:27 We talked about being around the 205 to 210-pound range.
02:31 He needs to add size to his frame.
02:33 Everyone knows that.
02:34 He knows that.
02:35 He does have the type of frame where there is room to grow, so I think he's going to
02:38 do that.
02:39 Yeah, on tape, I haven't watched him in person.
02:44 We're going to talk about someone who has, but when you watch the film and the highlight
02:48 reels, he looks like a man amongst boys.
02:51 Very strong and explosive.
02:53 Great pass rushing moves, including a really smooth spin move, and he's a good sound tackler
03:00 in the running game as well.
03:02 Really good fundamentals.
03:04 Now Booker Pickett, who just announced committed to Miami, which is fantastic, he was already
03:09 planning a visit to Miami this weekend for the Clemson game.
03:12 That visit is obviously still on, and now that visit can be a celebration because he's
03:18 picked the University of Miami.
03:20 Now I asked our friend Larry Blustein about this player who's watched Pickett in person
03:25 many times, and he replied to me, "Legacy, stud," and that he's one of the best in the
03:33 country and that his dad was a great player as well.
03:36 Yeah, Legacy, Booker Pickett Sr., father of Booker Pickett Jr., he played at the University
03:42 of Miami defensive line and linebacker in the mid-90s.
03:46 And also, Pickett's got good NFL and college football bloodlines on multiple levels because
03:51 he also has an uncle who was a standout at Ohio State and a first-round NFL draft pick,
03:57 had a 14-year career as a defensive tackle.
04:00 So Pickett comes from a really strong footballing family.
