Alex Donno offers the keys to the game for the Miami Hurricanes against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday, October 7th, 2023.

00:00 This is a Georgia Tech team that just lost at home to Bowling Green.
00:03 That was bad, but they also beat Wake Forest the week prior and they looked competitive
00:10 against Louisville.
00:11 Good team earlier on this season.
00:13 So my number one key for the Canes to get that dub tomorrow night, run the football.
00:20 Now defensively for Georgia Tech, there are only two teams in America with a worse rushing
00:27 defense than the rambling wreck.
00:29 And neither of those two teams that are worse than them play in the power five.
00:33 So they are the worst power five team in the country in stopping the run 128 in the country
00:39 overall.
00:40 Meanwhile, hurricanes have a top 10 rushing offense, ninth in the country, and you saw
00:47 them unleash against temple with 323 rushing yards in that bad weather game a couple of
00:52 weeks ago.
00:53 Yes, Georgia Tech is trying to make efforts to tweak their defense and find a spark.
00:59 They just demoted their previous defensive coordinator and promoted Kevin Scherer to
01:05 DC this week.
01:06 You can change coordinators, but in the matter of a week, you obviously cannot change your
01:10 personnel so they may try to give Miami some different looks.
01:14 You still got the same run defenders who haven't been doing their jobs earlier this year.
01:19 So I'm really putting a heavy onus on Miami's offensive line to set the tone for this game.
01:25 Davion Cohen, Jalen Rivers, Matt Lee, and as Cooper Francis Maui, Noah, these guys need
01:31 to keep doing what they've been doing all year, and that's moving bodies, opening up
01:35 running lanes.
01:36 And then we'll see what combination of the four or five headed backfield we see from
01:41 Miami is A.J.
01:43 Allen going to get some game time.
01:45 I'm the of the understanding that the reason why he didn't play against temple was he had,
01:49 you know, some kind of an illness and he should be back full go.
01:53 That's what Shannon Dawson said earlier this week.
01:56 Henry Parrish has been playing fantastic.
01:58 Don Chaney has looked really good.
02:01 Mark Fletcher, true freshman, is out there knocking dudes over, put them on a stretcher
02:06 Fletcher.
02:07 So I do expect Miami's rushing offense to find some success in this game against a team
02:13 that quite frankly has completely failed in stopping the run.
02:17 And that's where Miami's got to set the tone, right?
02:20 Hopefully you're not even facing a lot of third downs in this game, but when you do,
02:24 hopefully you're running game is setting down, setting up some third and shorts third and
02:28 manageable and when you can run the football successfully and consistently.
02:35 That's a great way to wear down to defense number one and use the clock and the pace
02:41 of the game to your advantage.
02:43 Number two, because you can really dictate the pace of the game when you can run the
02:46 football and I think that's something Miami can establish key number two for me.
02:52 And I thought of this immediately because one of the reasons why Miami beat up Georgia
02:57 tech on the road last year was how dominant they were turning the football over takeaways
03:03 from Miami's defense.
03:05 Cam Kinshens had three interceptions against different Georgia tech quarterback last year,
03:09 but he had three INTs last year.
03:11 So key number two for me, when the turnover margin Miami is actually top 20 in the country
03:19 with a plus four turnover margin so far, but they've left a lot of meat on the bone here
03:25 guys.
03:26 Now they're taking offensively Miami's taking care of the football because they've only
03:30 committed three turnovers so far.
03:33 Defensively, I'm actually surprised Miami is only forced seven turnovers so far in four
03:39 games with three of those games being against teams you were supposed to beat, right?
03:44 Cam Kinshens being back in the secondary, he's healthy again.
03:48 That's certainly going to help again.
03:49 He's the guy who had three INTs in that one game last year.
03:53 Cam has only played in two games so far this season.
03:56 He's got one interception so far to Corey couch had a pair against temple.
04:00 He's already got three interceptions on the year.
04:02 And if Miami keeps tackling the way that they've been tackling earlier on this year, hopefully
04:07 you can force some fumbles as well.
04:09 So Miami can really take the wind out of Georgia tech sales if they can perform well in the
04:14 turnover margin.
04:16 Now key number three, this is one for Miami's defense.
04:22 Make the yellow jackets offense one dimensional.
04:25 Okay.
04:26 Now running the football, Georgia tech is okay, but they average out kind of bang average
04:33 and running the ball 55th in the country with rushing offense.
04:36 But they do have some talent in their backfield.
04:39 I like their top running back, Jamal Haynes.
04:41 That's someone Miami needs to shut down.
04:43 And this is something Miami should be up to, up to the task for this folks.
04:47 Hurricane so far this year have the top rushing defense in America, only giving up 48 yards
04:54 per game.
