The Miami Hurricanes will be hosting 5-Star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith for a visit during the Georgia Tech game on Saturday night. Is there an opening to flip him from his Ohio State pledge?

00:00 Let's look at the 2024s first.
00:02 A couple of already verbal Miami commits
00:04 are going to be visiting.
00:05 And guys, as we remember, recruiting
00:07 does not stop once you get a verbal commitment,
00:09 because none of these guys have signed
00:10 their national letters of intent.
00:12 But tight end Elijah Loftin will be at the game.
00:15 And linebacker Bobby Pruitt, Cameron Pruitt,
00:17 is going to be at the game, which is great.
00:19 But let's start with Jeremiah Smith, who you mentioned.
00:22 This has been one of the more fascinating recruiting
00:25 processes, because Jeremiah, for many, many months,
00:28 has been an Ohio State verbal commit.
00:30 The process has not stopped for him.
00:32 You could go on any college football message board
00:36 on any given day, and you'll see Florida State fans who think
00:39 they're going to flip the guy.
00:41 Florida fans probably have gotten a little quiet
00:44 over the last week, but at times, they've
00:45 thought they're going to flip Jeremiah.
00:47 I know Miami fans have a lot of optimism there,
00:49 and he is a hometown guy from Chaminade.
00:52 So Jeremiah Smith, you mentioned,
00:53 top player in the country in his class
00:55 is going to be at the game.
00:57 Is there an opening for Miami to flip him,
01:00 and what would it take?
01:02 I think there's an opening now that they've
01:03 done what he said, that he's told me,
01:05 and he's told many other people.
01:07 He needs to see whatever school he goes to,
01:09 they can throw the ball, and they can produce guys
01:11 that can get to the NFL.
01:13 He's been very straightforward.
01:14 It's a very short, basic conversation.
01:17 I've had it with him multiple times,
01:18 and it's quite frankly why he picked
01:20 Ohio State in the first place.
01:21 Can't blame him, considering what
01:22 they've done with their passing game in the last decade.
01:24 I get it.
01:25 But now that Miami, they've got not one, not two,
01:28 but three receivers that will probably
01:30 end up at the NFL combine whenever they end up
01:32 leaving college.
01:34 That opens the door.
01:35 Obviously, the quarterback room looks good
01:37 with Emory Williams already being the backup
01:40 and looking pretty good.
01:41 And then let's be honest, Ohio State is not exactly
01:44 throwing it around.
01:45 So I'm curious to see what he does with this,
01:49 because he's still committed.
01:51 But all the things that he said, Miami is now doing.
01:55 So I'm just putting--
01:56 just what Jeremiah has told me tells me
01:58 that now Miami is a serious backer.
02:00 That's how I-- up until about a week or two ago,
02:02 I thought they were a long shot at best.
02:05 But they've proven they can throw the football, Alex.
02:07 Why would you not take a look at it?
02:09 And again, it's right down the street.
02:10 He lives within a half hour of the stadium.
02:12 It's not that rough of a drive for him.
02:15 Yeah, and for him, you mentioned,
02:16 it sounds like he's got a very professional approach to this,
02:19 talking about productive passing game,
02:22 getting receivers to the NFL.
02:25 But what potential factor of playing
02:27 with a bunch of his friends, could that be a factor for him?
02:29 Because obviously, he and JoJo, who's verbally committed
02:32 to Miami JoJo Trader, are very close.
02:34 I would imagine he and Zaquan Patterson
02:36 are probably pretty close.
02:38 And I think he's got a relationship with Chance
02:39 Robinson as well.
02:40 He knows a lot of these-- even some other guys
02:43 he knows from seven on seven.
02:45 And I've also-- I'm hearing more smoke about Miami potentially
02:48 recruiting his Chaminade quarterback, CJ Bailey, who's
02:51 currently in North Carolina State, verbal commit.
02:53 Maybe they're trying to flip him as well.
02:55 So could kind of keeping the band together,
02:57 could that be a factor for him?
02:59 Why would it not?
03:01 This wouldn't be the first time that teammates tried to pull
03:04 other teammates to school X.
03:06 It's not just Miami.
03:07 This is an old school approach.
03:08 It's no different than in business.
03:10 If you were successful coming up the business ladder
03:12 with somebody, and you went off and started your own business,
03:14 you try to hire guys.
03:15 Well, it's the same concept.
03:17 This is interesting, though, when
03:18 you talk about quarterback and receiver,
03:20 because no two positions are tied, like QB and receiver.
03:25 If they go after Bailey and he were to flip--
03:28 and I don't know.
03:29 I haven't spoken to Sed in a while.
03:30 I had no idea.
03:32 But if that did happen, then we're in a different realm.
03:36 Because they play together forever.
03:40 They have an in-sync ability to know
03:42 what the other is going to do that's very, very rare.
03:44 So I'd be curious to see what he would think of that.
