00:00 This is Alec Taylor, number one.
00:03 And the third team, Alec Taylor just about to get through the final.
00:08 A very big cheer.
00:10 So this is the first time you've done this?
00:17 I did this back when I was about 10 years old.
00:19 So it's my first time in a while. I've not done the course.
00:21 I love the course though, good course.
00:23 So I came over here to try and get a PB.
00:25 I didn't manage but I'm still proud of myself.
00:28 So what is your PB?
00:29 It's not official but I ran 16.15 on a shava.
00:33 I wanted to get it official today but I just couldn't manage.
00:36 So next time.
00:38 So what is your favourite event?
00:40 My favourite event would be the 800.
00:42 Just on track, that's my favourite.
00:44 Not really a fan of cross country but I would do it to keep my strength up during the winter.
00:48 So what have been your main achievements?
00:51 My main achievements, I went sub 2 in 800 at Nationals.
00:54 I had a big surgery in the holidays.
00:57 I had my appendix first so I was quite glad to go under sub 2.
01:00 My coaches and the doctors were saying "Oh you're not going to manage the race".
01:03 I was like "I'm going to do it and try and go sub 2" and I managed.
01:06 So when was your surgery?
01:08 The first week of the holidays.
01:11 Nationals was the last week.
01:13 So I had about 5 weeks to recover and a decent week of training.
01:16 I still managed so I'm happy with that.
01:19 Coming into this to do, is this a target set?
01:22 Is this what you're trying to do, try and get that PB?
01:24 Yeah, that's right.
01:26 So you're happy with the result?
01:28 Yeah, happy today.
01:29 The rain was a bit putting off though.
01:31 Ah, keep your cool.
01:33 So what's the aim over the winter, are you doing cross country?
01:36 Well, that's what me and my coach are trying to decide.
01:38 Either we're going to focus on track or we're going to do cross country and track.
01:41 But I think right now we're going to focus on track.
01:44 Who's your coach?
01:45 Pete McLeod.
01:46 Really good coach.
01:47 Very good.
01:48 Thanks very much.
01:49 Thanks, you're welcome.
