Alex Donno and Brian Smith take a look at how much Miami's offense has improved under Shannon Dawson. The guys examine how this is affecting recruiting.

00:00 And again, those who watched the Hurricanes offense in 2022 should be pretty shocked at how much better they've gotten under Shannon Dawson and with Tyler Van Dyke having a resurgent season.
00:11 He should be considered a guy to watch in the Heisman race right now.
00:15 Yes, the Miami Hurricanes have a top 10 offense.
00:18 They are seventh in points per game right now at forty three point eight.
00:22 Last year, they finished the season ninety seven.
00:25 So from ninety seven to seven, they are eighth right now in total yards per game at five.
00:30 Nineteen twenty first in passing yards per game at two ninety six and a half.
00:35 And they are 12th in rushing yards per game at two twenty two point five.
00:39 And the three twenty three they just put up against the Temple, I'm sure helped that number a little bit.
00:44 So, you know, Brian, I would say it's safe to say that Mario Cristobal and Shannon Dawson, they're doing their job so far.
00:52 And Kevin Beard, that entire offensive coaching staff, and I get it, they have played three lesser opponents.
00:57 They did hang up forty eight points on Texas A&M, though.
01:00 It looks like a new era for Miami Hurricanes offensive football.
01:03 You talk about the difference a year can make.
01:07 I mean, you and I had more off the air conversations about what was that that I would like to count last year, because it was just like, how do I write a postgame article on this?
01:18 I remember having conversations with some of our interns about it, too.
01:21 It's like make it short gamer.
01:24 What a ride.
01:25 I'm not I'm not commenting on this, you know, especially after Tyler got hurt.
01:30 I think most of most of those interns realized this was not the right career for them.
01:34 Last year, they're like, I need to find something else to do with my life.
01:38 To be honest, it probably had something.
01:41 It's hard whether you want to hear it or not.
01:43 Our industry and how much money we make is largely due to how well your team is doing.
01:47 It's just true.
01:49 It fans, but like Miami fans will not watch a bad product.
01:52 They just won't.
01:52 They just too many other things to do in South Florida.
01:54 We suffered for that last year and we're gaining from it this year.
01:58 The Miami's 4-0.
01:59 The offense is rolling.
02:00 It's balanced.
02:01 It's big play.
02:02 I wrote about that on all hurricanes.
02:04 Name me a team that has not one, not two, but three receivers that consistently get the ball.
02:10 Like, it's incredible how many guys they can throw to in a meaningful situation.
02:14 And it's good.
02:15 Most teams are lucky to have two guys.
02:18 Miami has three and they got some backups.
02:21 Like I've told this before, Horton would start on a lot of teams.
02:24 He barely plays.
02:25 Yeah.
02:26 I mean, he's a good football player, you know, Bray shard.
02:28 Uh, he's kind of fast.
02:29 I think A&M can attest to that.
02:31 He doesn't get to play a lot.
02:33 They've got Xavier Restrepo.
02:34 That kind of offensive firepower now with a healthy Van Dyke and him not getting
02:40 hammered on every pass attempt.
02:41 Do he throws it unlike last year?
02:43 Totally different.
02:45 It's fun to watch because you don't know where the ball's going.
02:48 No matter what formation or what situation, um, the play of the year so far for Miami
02:52 is an offensive play.
02:53 The throw to Jacoby.
02:54 Wait in that game against A&M.
02:56 I mean, I believe it was correct me if I'm wrong.
02:58 That was third down and seven Alex.
03:00 I like you could have just ran the ball and you know, punted and all that.
03:03 Nope.
03:04 Here we go.
03:05 We're, we're gonna, we're gonna hit a ball down the field.
03:07 Our guys better than yours.
03:08 And he smoked the DB.
03:09 It's been a lot of fun to watch.
03:11 Yeah.
03:11 And when we asked Shannon Dawson about that play call, um, couple days later, he
03:16 said, you get conservative, you get beat was his quote, which is true.
