No duelo disputado pela 24ª rodada da Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro, o camisa 10 do Galo marcou o tento decisivo aos 41 minutos do primeiro tempo, após boa tabela com Hulk por dentro.
A partida foi marcada por dois tempos consideravelmente distintos. Envolvente e protagonista na primeira etapa, o time de Felipão controlou as ações e criou as melhores oportunidades nos 45 minutos iniciais. Na etapa complementar, o alvinegro até teve chances, mas se viu encurralado no campo de defesa na maior parte do tempo e contou com boas intervenções do goleiro Everson para assegurar os três pontos.
