00:00 My adventurous journey began over six years ago when a mum I met at Baby Massage asked
00:05 if Juliet and I would like to go along to a class she'd found that did creative and
00:09 messy activities. So off we went and from that first session we were hooked. Even from
00:14 such a young age, she was almost seven months, I could see how she was benefiting from the
00:18 varied process arts we explored each week, with lots to take home and keep as well.
00:23 We continued with our classes for another few years, loving the different themes every
00:27 week until our lovely leader, Harpreet, decided to hang up her Painty Red T-shirt, but for
00:32 me it was like a light bulb moment and in December 2019 I signed up as owner of Artventures
00:37 Sunderland West in Washington. Fast forward nearly four years and I brought my small business
00:42 through a pandemic, through lockdowns, online classes, face masks. We've run various sessions
00:48 for babies from six weeks old up to pre-teen workshops, using community centres, church
00:53 halls, sports halls, cafes and even an art centre. I supported local councils and communities
00:58 with craft activities at a variety of events and I got to the point where I felt all my
01:04 hard work was paying off. So I did what every normal person does and made the decision to
01:09 take my business to the next level and start running from my very own premises. And so
01:13 September 2023, Artspace by Artventures opened its doors in Washington.
