Richard Colman Ord on bringing iconic South Shields chippy Colmans to Fenwick in Newcastle
Transcript
00:00So Richard, we're down here with the new Coleman's Fennec. What do you think now you've seen the finished product after all this work?
00:06Yeah, very happy. We had big ideas for the space and not a lot of time to do it in.
00:13At one point we weren't even sure whether it was achievable, but we got there, we love the space, really, really happy.
00:21We put everything into it and I think it will show when people see it.
00:26And this is two big North East Heritage brands coming together. It's a great kind of marriage, isn't it?
00:31Yeah, it's incredible. I mean, two five generation North East family businesses.
00:36I mean, Fennec's is the pinnacle of shopping in the North East. It's one of the kind of destination shopping places.
00:45To be a part of it and their vision aligns with what we do as a family business and family ethos.
00:51I think it works really, really well together.
00:53And what's the feedback been like since you announced you were coming here?
00:56Incredible. It's humbling to see how much support we have, not just from South Shields, but from the whole of the North East.
01:04In terms of engagement online and bookings, it's been one of the most successful launches to date.
01:11And what can we expect on the menu? The Coleman's classics?
01:14So always our fish and chips are at the core of the product. Fish and chips. We've got an amazing fish buddy on.
01:22We've got grilled fish options, you know, for people that don't want to have that kind of deep fried option.
01:28And then we try to take all of the fish and chip shop classics, so pies, battered sausages, and turn them into kind of quirky small plates to go alongside the meals.
