00:00 LJ McRae is a big time defensive line target and Miami is trying to stay near the top of
00:07 his list.
00:08 Where do you think things stand with LJ and how did he look in that game?
00:13 He is a very unique player.
00:15 The backdrop with him is one that I don't think I've ever heard before.
00:19 For whatever reason, Mainland only played him primarily at tight end up until this year.
00:25 Which I don't know why.
00:27 I have no idea why.
00:29 But now this is his first year focusing on D-line and he even played, as crazy as it
00:34 sounds at like 6'5" 6'6" at 275 pounds, an outside linebacker rush roll.
00:41 Like that hybrid spot, which I mean that's humongous even by NFL standards.
00:44 But anyway, he can end up at strong side end, D-tackle, whatever.
00:49 He's just really athletic and he's a kid that I'd never seen him go in live competition.
00:56 And he went against Solomon Thomas, who's arguably the best offensive lineman in the
00:59 class at 25.
01:01 Miami and everybody's recruiting him.
01:03 We'll talk about him in a minute.
01:05 That was a great way to see what he could do.
01:08 Because Thomas has been playing O-line forever and he's 310 pounds.
01:11 That's a massive young man.
01:13 I was surprised.
01:14 LJ held his own.
01:15 He's very much a kid that can understand a technique and utilize it.
01:19 He had a spin move.
01:20 He had a ghost move.
01:22 Long arm, different things.
01:23 And he really can run when he turns the corner.
01:27 Most kids his size just can't move like he does and they can't bend like he does.
01:32 So that's why he's coveted.
01:33 Jason Taylor, Coach Adai, they were both there at the game.
01:36 There was four other coaches there, coaches from other schools.
01:40 Everybody knows who this kid is.
01:41 So it's not real surprising.
01:43 And Miami is all over him.
01:46 How do you feel about Miami's chances to land him when it's all said and done on LJ McRae?
01:51 I interviewed him afterwards and he was laughing about it because he said the other night he
01:55 had a dream and he woke up and he's like, "I need to figure this out."
01:59 He's got Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Auburn as his final five.
02:04 He said he would like to make a decision after his birthday, which I believe he said was
02:08 the 18th of October.
02:09 So shortly thereafter.
02:10 So we're a little over a month, give or take, from him making a decision.
02:16 And right now Miami's in the thick of it.
02:17 He visited for the A&M game, for those of you that don't know.
02:21 And he's trying to get back around to all the schools and see him one more time.
02:24 He was at UF this past weekend.
02:27 He said he really doesn't know.
02:28 That's the thing.
02:29 He's the hardest kid in the country to figure out where he's going.
02:32 He told me like five times, "I really don't know where I'm going."
02:36 Miami's just in the mix and he likes Jason Taylor and the staff and all that, but he's
02:41 having a hard time telling people no.
02:45 He's a really nice kid, really, really nice kid.
02:47 But at the end of the day, there can only be one and he's at five.
02:50 So it is what it is, man.
02:53 I mean, you could only pick one school.
02:55 So I don't know where he's going to end up.
02:57 It's really interesting and it could go all the way to signing day.
03:00 I wouldn't be shocked.
