00:00 I just felt like that was my call to step up and make a difference in people's lives.
00:07 I remember early on in my career working with a gentleman who had had a spinal cord injury
00:13 and his goal was to be able to hug his granddaughter again.
00:17 So that's something that we worked on together and it was just so amazing to see the impact
00:22 that I had.
00:23 I remember whilst I was studying and completing placements, I thought I wanted to work in
00:28 mental health and I did a mental health placement and loved it.
00:32 And then I did a spinal cord placement and loved that as well.
00:35 It just seemed like every area of OT that I worked in or did a placement in, I just
00:41 loved and it was just so exciting to have so many options.
00:46 I can see myself being an OT for the rest of my life.
00:51 I'm really proud of myself that I chose to go to university and study a course that helps
00:58 me give back to others.
01:00 In a way I've used the situation of losing my mum as motivation to help me make a difference
01:06 in other people's lives and that's just been so fulfilling for me.
01:11 It's great to see that living in Warrnambool allows me to still expand my occupational
01:16 therapy career and now I'm lucky enough to be working at Deakin University in Warrnambool
01:22 helping to set up the occupational therapy course for the next generation of OTs.
01:29 I love living in Warrnambool.
01:30 It's so nice to be so close to the ocean, have walking tracks and just so much space.
01:37 I love that I could go catch up with a family member or friend within five minutes.
01:42 It's just the lifestyle that I love living and I think I'm going to be here forever.
