00:03 Local residents are being invited to attend a public inquiry which will decide if a £300
00:08 million housing development in Chesterfield will get the go-ahead.
00:12 Woodall Homes Ltd of Chesterfield appealed for a public inquiry after Chesterfield Borough
00:16 Council Committee had originally left the developers' application for the scheme for
00:20 Tapton Business Park as 'non-determined'.
00:22 However, after resolving a dispute over funding for a new £1.7 million bridge as part of
00:28 the scheme, the committee has now agreed that it is 'minded' to approve the application.
00:33 The final decision on the plan though, which will see the demolition of buildings on the
00:36 Brownfield site at Brimmington Road and the creation of 83 houses, 41 apartments and 21
00:42 flats over garages with ground floor commercial units, now lies with the public inquiry which
00:47 will begin on Tuesday, September 19th.
00:50 The public inquiry is scheduled to last for six days and will be held at Chesterfield
00:54 Town Hall on Rose Hill.
00:56 Chesterfield Golf Club members were told of an unusual visitor to the club this week
01:02 after a snake was spotted basking on the sun on the 11th fairway.
01:07 Members of the club were alerted to the rare visitor but were told the snake was not dangerous.
01:11 The club said 'It's believed to be a British grass snake.
01:14 The species is not harmful so please don't be alarmed.
01:17 We just wanted to give members warning that we're sharing our home with a wide variety
01:20 of wildlife.'
