00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 Councillors have refused to grant a developer permission to build a four-storey block of
00:08 flats on a Chesterfield car park following a flood of objections.
00:12 James Holmes, who is Managing Director of Homes by Homes, sought outline planning permission
00:17 from Chesterfield Borough Council for 18 homes behind the former North East Derbyshire District
00:22 Council offices on Saltergate.
00:25 But locals had objected about the proximity of the planned development to existing neighbouring
00:29 homes and cited concerns about a loss of privacy and light.
00:34 Chesterfield and District Civic Society had also voiced its opposition to the plan, saying
00:39 that it was premature to consider the development of the car park when no viable future had
00:43 yet been found for the existing old council building.
00:48 A loving Chesterfield dog who was rescued by the RSPCA is still searching for new owners,
00:54 with the Animal Rescue Charity hoping that someone will bring him home for Christmas.
00:59 Seven-year-old crossbreed Stanley has been overlooked since he arrived at the charity's
01:03 Chesterfield and North Derbyshire branch rehoming centre on Spittle Lane, and sadly no-one has
01:09 expressed any interest in adopting him yet.
01:12 The dog was rescued by the RSPCA from the Chesterfield area in May after he was found
01:16 living outside in unsuitable conditions.
01:20 Anyone who is interested in adopting Stanley or would like to find out more is asked to
01:23 contact the RSPCA in Chesterfield.
