00:00 We will update on the storm with NDRRMC Director Edgar Posadas. Director good morning.
00:07 Good morning also. It's a beautiful day for the country and for the countrymen. Good morning to all of you.
00:15 Good morning. Based on your last report, some of the places that are being visited by the countrymen will be hit by the storm.
00:27 That's why they are already under the alert status. What is the reason for this and what are the places that are affected by this, Director?
00:33 First, regarding our entry of OCs in Camp Aguinaldo, to monitor and respond, we are under red alert since the 5th of August.
00:51 It's also accompanied by regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Zone and Maropa. Our regional offices are also under red alert.
01:01 Blue alert in CAR, Calabar Zone and also under the protocol of Region 6 and Region 9.
01:10 What I mean by this is that we are under the control of our secretariat, our chair, Endrim C.C. Secretary Genoro.
01:22 Of course, through the leadership of our Executive Director Endrim C., Eka Eusebio Nepomuceno, we issued orders to raise our alert level
01:34 to those mentioned earlier so that we can respond more intensively.
01:41 How many individuals are affected by the storm, especially in Ilocos region and Cagayan Valley, Director?
01:48 We have 7,919 persons as of reporting time earlier who are affected.
01:57 We have 2,302 families in 92 barangays. These can be found in regions 1, 2, Calabar Zone, Maropa, 6 and CAR.
02:08 As of reporting time, we have 53 evacuation centers established catering to 1,948 persons or 538 families in the mentioned regions.
02:22 We have data on the preemptively evacuated, 665 individuals or 152 families in six barangays in regions 1, Calabar Zone and Maropa.
02:37 We have also recorded damage to infrastructure, 14 million in region 2.
02:44 But this is still increasing while we receive the latest reports.
02:49 We also have reports on 81 flooded areas.
02:54 As of now, 58 are still flooded, 10 have subsided, 13 are still subsiding in regions 1, 2, Calabar Zone, Maropa and 6.
03:06 We also had four landslides, rain-induced landslides in regions 1, 3 and Calabar Zone.
03:13 So that is our initial report as of now.
03:17 Are there reported casualties now Director?
03:19 As of now, we are thankful because we have not reported anything. I hope it stays that way when we move forward and monitor.
03:34 I hope we don't have casualties.
03:35 The damage to infrastructure, are there any similar accidents that did not happen or were damaged?
03:41 There are but the repairs are ongoing. We have reports of 13. Roads not possible.
03:48 Of course, the reports are increasing because this is due to flooding, landslides and soil erosion in CAR, in Ilocos region and in Cagayan Valley.
03:59 We also have five regions affected in regions 1 and 2.
04:03 We also have power interruptions but 16 out of the 26 affected regions, 2, Calabar Zone and Maropa, were restored, so 62 percent.
04:18 We also have 38 suspended trips that reports, leaving about 145 stranded passengers and 13 stranded vessels all in all.
04:31 What are your preparations and the hope that the storm will intensify?
04:40 First, as I mentioned earlier, the red alerts in our regional offices are increasing, which could be affected.
04:50 And those in blue alerts or white alerts could be raised anytime to be more alert.
04:59 Especially in the western seaboard, in the western Pacific Central Zone, in the southern zone, in the western Visayas and in the western Mindanao
05:09 because that is where the effects of the recently declared delivery are.
05:13 Are these areas that were flooded or these so-called rescued people, are they really in a dangerous place?
05:28 Were they not permanently rescued in safe places?
05:33 We need to talk about this Adjon. You're talking about permanent relocation. Ideally, it should be like that.
05:43 But of course, in our current situation, the CCSZ, there are many aspects that should be taken care of.
05:52 Similar to Yolande Alley before, it took several years before the permanent relocation was implemented.
06:00 Ideally, it should be like that. Your government is not neglecting this.
06:06 They are continuously talking about this, even in Region 5, the permanent safety zone in Mayon.
06:15 They are also talking about this.
06:17 Hopefully, if our government can make a decision, your Office of Civil Defense will be one with them in the implementation for the safety of the people of Mayon.
06:32 Yes. This is a long-term solution.
06:34 This is necessary because the flood is every year. We count the number of people who are injured or injured every year.
06:43 We count the number of people who are dying every year.
06:47 We also do our calculations and computations on the damage per wisio of calamities.
06:55 All right. To our viewers, the people of Baguio-Goring, Director, what are your reminders?
07:01 First, we are thankful for their solidarity.
07:06 We don't see anyone who is really helping us during times like this.
07:12 We are thankful. We also thank the leadership of the local government units, particularly those in affected areas, our LTEs.
07:24 I see... because we are not receiving anything. Yesterday, I asked our regional directors if they need anything.
07:32 They said it's manageable within the regions and it can be handled by the local government.
07:37 For me, that's a good news.
07:40 We will continue that and we will continue the solidarity because our people, you have a big stake.
07:51 We are committed to being safe so that we can save our families and our communities.
07:57 And one more thing, we would like to thank our friends from the media for your great help to bring this information and the messages so that our communities can be safe.
08:10 Thank you very much for your time, Director Edgar Posada, the spokesperson of NDRRMC.
