00:00 Hi Vogue, it's Hailey from Paramore. Come get ready with me for a show tonight at
00:05 The Forum in Los Angeles.
00:09 Right now we're backstage at The Forum. This is night two of two sold-out shows
00:23 which is unbelievable to me. This is such a legendary place and we played last
00:27 night. I was out of body the whole time so now I get a second chance to be in my
00:32 body for it. It's 3:20 right now. We go on at 9 and I'm not the best at math but I'm
00:38 pretty sure that's like six hours. I'm paused.
00:44 It's time for glam. I'm gonna turn this into something that gets to be on stage.
00:54 I used to never let Brian put extensions in my hair. I was such a brat about it.
01:01 Our band grew up in a time where like especially females were picked apart in
01:07 our scene. I think in a lot of ways I probably wouldn't have been caught dead
01:11 doing a lot of fashion stuff because it was just what is being a poser and what
01:15 is being punk and you know where my scene points. Now there is a lot more
01:20 understanding of presentation and expression means to like the overall
01:25 person. I'm so glad we've grown out of that shit. I mean I am a 34 year old woman.
01:30 Yeah now you get to have fun. Really like to make sure by the end of the show what
01:37 we call bang over hair. So we want it to really look like you can see the
01:44 hairstyle from the first song and by the time you get to the last song you can
01:48 see like it's performed the hair really saying like oh yeah she's she did play a
01:53 two-hour show. We typically plan so much around my hair or my makeup look. Now
02:01 that we have these opportunities to work with people making custom looks for me
02:05 to wear on stage for the shows like Rodarte brought these two killer looks
02:10 that are both pretty unique to each other but there's a through line like
02:13 last night was very mini dress totally fits what we've been doing but this kind
02:17 of feels like that same character in the next decade it's a little bit more 70s
02:22 and that's really cool to me. I feel like they made two looks that I really love a
02:26 lot and we really do want to be able to focus on that and celebrate what they
02:29 did. How many times have I gotten to wear custom designer for a Paramore show? It's
02:34 really not happened a lot. I was always like not really into the makeup aspects
02:41 of this whole job until I really got close with Brian. Makeup for a while was
02:47 like how do I cover my face and it's the antithesis of what that process should
02:52 be about should be almost uncovering something about you. I'm just enhancing
02:58 the freckles that Haley already has. I just want them to kind of peek through
03:04 under her skin. Do my freckles go down here? No. I know. It's crazy. I was like I could keep
03:09 going. I'm like your whole face will be freckles.

03:29 That's great. All right I'm gonna attempt to put on my own lip liner. No one asked
03:36 for this part of this segment but we're gonna give it to him anyway.
03:40 Pam McGrath please don't watch this what I'm doing with your product. Okay I'm
03:48 terrified to show you all but this is where we're at.
03:53 It looks good. You're doing a good job.
03:58 I tried. Just a few more finishing touches to go. I'm gonna go get my outfit on and then we'll be ready.
04:07 This is inspired from a look that they did for fall/winter of 2020 for a D'Arte.
04:14 We've been loving Haley in metallics and silvers. We revisited this in gold. It was
04:20 originally with pants. We made a short little ballerina skirt. We're having a
04:24 fashion moment tonight. It's really exciting. Once we hone in on someone like
04:29 Debbie or like a Jane Birkin or even a Jane Asher, Tina Turner, Cher like look at
04:33 these people that are like icons that kind of like morphed as fashion had its
04:39 own evolution and that to me is like what we're getting to play out over two
04:44 nights. Okay I'm gonna go get changed and I'll see you all in a second.
04:49 Oh shit we're hanging out. We're hanging over to the 80s a little bit.
05:00 Yeah I like seeing a little bit of that orange. It's cool. Subtle.
05:05 Alright, let's go.
05:07 Ah it's so good to meet you!
05:14 It's so good to meet you too!
05:15 In real life finally.
05:16 I'm in the business of misery. Let's take it from the top.
05:20 Yeah!
05:22 Okay I'm gonna do my vocal warm-ups now and I'll see you right before the show.
05:29 It's an amazing freeing feeling to just show up as myself and not have to cover up
05:34 anything or feel like I'm supposed to.
05:36 You look cute.
05:37 Thank you!
05:38 Oh your little orange!
05:39 It's a little bit more Bowie than I thought.
05:41 It's really cool.
05:42 Alright Vogue, thank you for hanging out with me. Thank you for getting ready with me.
05:45 It's time to play a show now so see you later.
05:49 Let's go!
