00:00 Good morning Vogue, it's Tyler. Come get ready with me for the Grammys.
00:06 I was nominated for Best African Performance. I didn't believe it, honestly.
00:19 It literally didn't feel like it was possible, especially so soon.
00:24 The song wasn't really out for that long before the nomination,
00:28 so it felt like I was getting pranked, literally.
00:32 Ever since I was small, I dreamed of this type of life and bringing more attention back home
00:37 to our culture and our music and our dancing and everything that is South African.
00:42 So I'm just happy that people are embracing it.
00:45 I'm always into creating, I mean with Tyler, we're always into creating different new styles,
00:55 something we've never really seen before. So what I'm doing now, I'm just doing twists,
00:59 but then I'm probably going to mix it with braids.
01:01 And I'm not trying to do something too clean in terms of the parting.
01:05 I'm definitely doing twists, but I'm just putting some texture, some product into it
01:10 so the hair is still quite flat and close to the head.
01:12 So it kind of gives a different story to the old styling, basically.
01:17 Because I still want something that looks quite effortless, even though it's still strong.
01:23 I always loved "Water". As soon as I finished recording it, I played it for everybody.
01:27 Everybody loved it. So something that was unique was I had a dream
01:32 that the song was going to blow up before I even dropped the song, which is crazy.
01:37 Like, I literally, in my dream, I saw Spotify streams just going millions,
01:42 two million, three million, just a little.
01:44 And I woke up and I prayed and I said, "God, if that's going to happen, you got me."
01:50 And it ended up happening. So maybe I have superpowers.
01:54 For the makeup, we always keep Kyla's skin really, really fresh.
02:05 She doesn't like a full coverage beat.
02:08 She's wearing a fancy grill, too, so something that will marry really nicely into all the accessories.
02:13 And the eyes, we're going to go a little more ethereal, kind of glowy.
02:17 Something to go with the dress.
02:19 The dress is very, very sparkly. And it's a standout, for sure.
02:23 My nails. My Nana.
02:32 I've really just been enjoying it. I have such good people around me, so it's been fun.
02:40 My best friend travels with me everywhere.
02:42 She's right behind you. She's right behind you.
02:47 I love Sky's words. Can I at least moisturise my lips before you're on?
02:51 You look lovely. She's my creative director. She does everything.
02:55 But for real, good people around me.
02:58 So even though it's scary, I have people to lean on, at least.
03:04 So we decided to switch up the makeup a little bit.
03:10 Something more sultry and less colour.
03:15 The purple was cut from the start.
03:18 That's a wrap for the purple.
03:20 That's a wrap.
03:21 I'm excited.
03:25 I know the nerves and everything is going to come while I'm sitting down.
03:29 Because then I'm not going to know when they're going to start announcing it.
03:33 As soon as I hear, "And the best African musical performance goes to..."
03:39 I'm going to be shaking. I'm going to be hot. I'm going to be, I don't know what.
03:43 Just before that's when I get the most anxious.
03:47 So as soon as Louis is done with the last touch, we're going to go check out the dress.
03:56 So come join us.
03:58 We started doing specific experimenting with styles from 2019, 2018.
04:11 Different looks. It's green. We've got a little bit of gym.
04:15 Like ocean sparkle. You know, like some cute vibes.
04:19 We have like in the hair, seashells in the hair.
04:23 So we're just like marrying the idea of the ocean, nature.
04:28 Like the closest that we could get to organic, but stunning.
04:33 The sage green, like this mesh with the suave, sleek crystals.
04:40 [Music]
04:46 Ha! Come on!
04:49 It's cute.
04:51 She's wearing a gown.
04:55 I'm joking. But it's so cute. I like it.
04:59 He came.
05:01 Don't look for too long.
05:03 [Music]
05:13 I'm shining on that carpet. Come on.
05:17 This is the final look. Look how cute.
05:23 It's a moment.
05:25 Thank you so much for spending this time with me.
05:28 Thank you to my tigers watching and everybody else. Thank you, Vogue.
05:32 Now I'm off to the Grammys.
05:34 So yeah, enjoy your day.
05:36 Because I'm going to enjoy my night.
05:39 Okay. That was my outro.
