Learn how to make at 'Lobiya Masala Curry at home

Ingredients:
1 cup Black Eyed Beans
Water (as required)

2 tbsp Oil
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Bay Leaf
1 inch Cinnamon Stick
½ tsp Asafoetida
2 Dried Kashmiri Red Chillies
1 Onion (chopped)
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Garam Masala
2 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
1 tsp Raw Mango Powder
1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
¼ cup Tomato Puree
3 tsp Curd
Salt (as per taste)
Coriander Leaves (chopped)

00:00 Today, let's make a delicious and comforting sabzi with simple spices.
00:06 This curry is also low in calories and good for diabetic people.
00:11 Let's get started with Lobia Masala Curry.
00:15 Here's 1 cup of Lobia beans or black eyed beans.
00:22 Ideally, you should wash the Lobia beans and soak them overnight.
00:27 This is important to make them easily digestible.
00:30 Lobia beans are helpful for weight loss as they are low in fat and high in antioxidants.
00:38 Strain the excess water out.
00:42 Look at them, they are nicely puffed.
00:44 Add them to a cooker.
00:47 Add some water and a pinch of salt.
00:56 Cover this and cook for 4-5 whistles.
00:59 These are done.
01:11 Now, in a pan, heat 2 tbsp of oil.
01:18 Once the oil is heated, I'm adding 1 tsp of Jeera.
01:22 1 bay leaf, 1 cinnamon stick, 1/2 tsp of hing, 2 dried Kashmiri red chillies,
01:31 1 finely chopped onion and 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste.
01:38 Saute this till the onions turn golden.
01:41 Now, I'm adding 1/2 tsp of haldi, 1 tsp of garam masala, 2 tsp of dhania powder,
01:51 1 tsp of amchur powder, 1 tsp of Kashmiri red chilli powder,
01:56 and puree of 3 tomatoes.
02:05 Cook this on a low flame till the masala starts releasing oil.
02:10 To enhance the taste of the gravy, I'm adding 3 tsp of curd.
02:16 Let this simmer for some time.
02:19 Add salt to taste and the boiled lupia beans.
02:24 Mix this well to coat the beans in the curry.
02:30 Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
02:36 Remove the lid and cook on a low flame for another 2 minutes.
02:45 Time to serve.
02:47 A wholesome bowl of Lobia Masala Curry is ready.
02:55 Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves and serve it with some hot rice or chapatis and enjoy.
