00:00 Take me out for some hot dogs.
00:04 All right, we are in Wayne, New Jersey.
00:07 You know, one Heimdallr Turnpike,
00:11 and you can take this road all the way up
00:13 to Northwest corner of New Jersey,
00:15 where you have High Point, the High Point in New Jersey,
00:19 and New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania all converge.
00:22 But here in Wayne, this place has been open since 1940,
00:26 and they've been serving hot dogs,
00:31 and they opened up as just a little road stand,
00:33 but they expanded and became
00:34 McCobb's Family Restaurant here in 1973,
00:39 and they serve ice cream,
00:41 and they're kind of dormant during the winter,
00:44 but they kick up during the summer,
00:46 because summer is a fun time for them.
00:48 And well, that's what we're here for,
00:51 to check out these hot dogs,
00:53 see if they pass the tank rating.

01:30 - I'll get one plain hot dog.
01:31 - Got it.
01:33 - One with chili and cheese.
01:34 - One with chili and cheese.
01:37 - I'll get a large diet coconut ice.
01:41 Ah, the joys of summer.
01:43 Sitting outside and eating a couple hot dogs
01:46 by the river, the Ramico River.
01:48 You know, they offer fishing and canoeing,
01:50 and it's all done through the hot dog place
01:52 here at McCobb's Family Restaurant.
01:54 Started out as a little snack stand in 1940,
01:58 and they named it after a family friend
02:03 when they expanded it,
02:04 and it's been here for 50 years like this.
02:09 They even sell their chili sauce in jars,
02:13 and it's one of the great traditions here
02:15 in Northern New Jersey.
02:17 And the hot dogs here kind of look like a little bit of a,
02:21 almost a Rutt's Hut style, not quite the Ripper-ish,
02:26 but fun to hot dog ratio is great,
02:30 but we just have to see how the hot dog actually tastes.
02:34 It's got a real good snap.
02:51 I wish these napkins stopped blowing away.
02:54 (upbeat music)
02:57 I'm gonna give it a triple.
03:06 Got a good snap, got a good taste,
03:09 got a little bit of char to it too.
03:11 The buns are pretty good.
03:13 And sitting out here, you know,
03:18 it's a really nice hot dog.
03:21 Now, what they're known for is their chili dog.
03:24 With their homemade chili that they jar,
03:30 and they've been making for 60 plus years.
03:33 Now the cheese they use, well,
03:36 I've never been a fan of just using sliced cheeses
03:40 with chili dogs, but we'll see how this actually tastes.
03:44 (upbeat music)
03:47 Someone's speaking to me.
04:05 I'm gonna give the chili dog a double.
04:14 (upbeat music)
04:16 Very good chili, very nice, nice spice to it.
04:18 Nice, very spice to it.
04:19 And as I said, they make their own chili.
04:22 You can actually buy their chili and take it home with you.
04:25 - If it was shredded cheese, would you have?
04:28 - It might've been in trouble.
04:30 - Do they cook it like a hot dog?
04:31 - A little bit, yeah, it tastes like it.
04:32 - Is that what it is?
04:33 That's like the casing on the outside
04:35 is kind of shriveled up by just like throat and grease?
04:37 - Yeah, but it doesn't burst like a hot dog does.
04:41 Even though you can go enjoy hot dogs all year,
04:45 there's something about hot dogs in summer
04:46 and it's one of the true joys of summer.
04:49 And the Cobbs captures that essence perfectly.
04:52 You can go fishing, you can go canoeing, kayaking.
04:56 It's a beautiful area, beautiful spot here
04:58 on the Hamburg-Turf Pike, and they have great hot dogs.
05:02 So click like and subscribe
05:05 and tell me other places I can go.
05:07 'Cause you never know where I'm gonna show up.
05:09 And remember, keep raw dogging.
05:11 And also, stop by the Barstool store
05:14 and buy the raw dog shirt.
05:16 So keep watching, keep liking, and keep raw dogging.
