Karate keeps mum fighting fit

Camperdown mum Janet Biddle has taken up Karate which has helped her after cancer treatment and heart surgery.

00:10 my mum had dementia and I don't want to suffer from that
00:15 but it's it's it does have everything I need.
00:19 Yeah. And you've had a rough couple of years haven't you?
00:22 I've had a rough five years, six years I've had a rough years.
00:26 Yeah. Yeah and it's helped you recover from
00:30 cancer and your heart surgery? Yeah and bring my diabetes under control
00:36 and my arthritis I mean I'm not I'm not even on tablets for my arthritis.
00:41 Yeah. I mean it's just I just wish people would realise just how
00:48 great it is. It's not just there for exercise it's
00:52 there for your mind for your whole lot, your whole well-being. Yeah.
00:57 Yeah and when were you diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma?
01:02 2018. Yeah and how did that make you feel when
01:06 when the doctor told you? I was scared I thought I was going to die
01:13 but my main thoughts were on Beck and my son
01:16 how they would cope without me. So yeah.
01:22 And karate's really helped you fight that? Oh yeah has it ever.
01:27 I mean I'm here with my kids
01:31 and that's all I want and my little dog but she's been really good she's
01:35 behaving herself.
