William Branham and Moses David Berg

David Brandt Berg was the central figure of the Children of God cult, aka, the "Jesus Freaks", more recently known as The Family, International. As Children of God, Berg's cult became notorious in Southern California for recruiting new members through sex. The group advertised themselves as "Happy Hookers for Jesus", and stirred up controversy among Christians who disagreed with their recruiting strategy as well as prostitutes who were losing business to the movement. According to Berg, William Branham prophesied over his ministry during the Latter Rain version of Branham's stage persona, which led to his establishment of the Children of God. It should come as no surprise that the Children of God first began as an apocalyptic, anti-Establishment gospel.
