Red Ring of Death - Did Microsoft JIP us?

Why is it that Microsoft released the Xbox 360 with the Red Ring of Death error? That's my question. I just doesn't make sense to release a console that has overheating issues and to where we have to go buy some repair guide to fix it ourselves.
As soon as I got a repair guide I fixed it, but still, it's just ridiculous that Microsoft would release it with that many problems.
