Hank Canfield, leader of a gang of horse thieves, attempts to steal a wild racehorse called El Diablo. The crooks bungle the job, but in making their escape, they kill a Ranger named Elliott Norton. The ranger's older brother Bob sets out to bring his brother's killers to justice, not realizing the apparently respectable Canfield is the guilty party. A young mute orphan referred to as the Wild Boy is the only one in town who knows who the killer is, and Bob Norton attempts to communicate with the child to draw the secret out of him. Meanwhile, the horse thieves make further attempts to kidnap the prized racehorse.

04:59so if you'll see us safely there, I...

09:22Come on, son, let's pick up that mare and get out of here.
09:53Now, don't lose your nerve, boy.
09:55Lose my nerve?
09:56If the vigilantes get baits and Lee Weston starts to talk,
09:59our necks are in the noose.
10:01I tell you, we'd better light out while there's time.
10:03I told you, I'm not going away from here without the devil horse.
10:06Yeah?
10:07Well, you will never get him.
10:08Yes, I will.
10:09Jake and his boys are out after him now,
10:10and I'll have him before the day's over.

10:40Yeah, I will, Mr. Canfield.
10:42All right, that settles it, Canfield.
10:44You can stay on hang if you want to, but I'm lighting out right now.
10:49Now wait a minute, boy.
10:50Now listen.
10:51We're not lit yet.
10:53I'll see that they don't get baked,
10:55and believe me, I've got a way to keep Weston from talking.
11:00You see, his sister's over at the ranch alone.
11:04You get over there.
11:06My brother's dying message.
11:12Oh, I know you didn't kill him, son.
11:15You must have meant somebody else.
11:20Well, that seems to be plain enough.
11:25Boy, for the capital beast,
11:29and that little upright line.
11:35Boyd, the banker.
11:41Oh, that couldn't be possible.
11:44If only I had the only words that fits.
11:48Son, I'm going to kill you.
11:52I'm going to kill you.
11:54I'm going to kill you.
11:56Son, I'm going to get this Mr. Boyd,
12:00where you can look him over,
12:02and see if he's the man that killed my brother.
12:27Is the cash all put away in the safe box?
12:30Yes, Mr. Boyd.
12:31Well, I'll leave you to lock up.
12:33All right.
12:45Oh, Mr. Boyd.
12:50Boyd to the ranch.
12:51I'll ride along with you.
12:52All right, Sanders.
13:22What's the matter?
13:24I've got to tighten my fence.
13:26My saddle's slipping.
13:28Don't look back.
13:29We're being trailed.
13:38It's Roberts.
13:40No, no, no.
13:41Not that way.
13:42We can't afford to miss.
13:45The outlaw's along the way to the warehouse.
13:47He'll be here any minute.
13:49The outlaw's along the way to the western ranch.
13:52We'll let Roberts trail us and trap him there.
13:55That's a slick idea.
13:56Come on.
14:19There's Miss Weston.
14:20So long.
14:28Hello, Mr. Boyd.
14:31I heard about your brother.
14:32It's too bad, but don't worry.
14:34Everything will be all right.
14:35And if there's anything that I can do.
14:41Mr. Roberts, you're mad to come here.
14:43Don't you know the party's looking for you?
14:45That's the risk I've got to take.
14:47Mr. Boyd, I want a word with you in private.
14:49There's nothing you've got to say to me that Miss Weston can't hear.
14:52I'm the best judge of that.
14:59Get on your horse.
15:00Stop.
15:01You don't know what you're doing.
15:02Why, Mr. Boyd is.
15:03No use to try to argue with an outlaw, Miss Weston.
15:13Roberts, he's at the western ranch.
15:15Hurry up, boys.
15:18Blackman.
15:22Get to the barn, quick.
15:25Don't let him get away.
15:36Quick, get back.
15:42Hey, Bill.
15:48We haven't a chance down here.
15:50Quick, open the loft.
16:17Come on.
