De Lima meets alleged smuggling king David Tan

Alleged rice smuggler Davidson Tan Bangayan alias David Tan surfaced at the Department of Justice Tuesday morning and met with Justice Secretary Leila de Lima. During the meeting, Tan and his lawyer assured de Lima that they would cooperate with the National Bureau of Investigation's probe on rice smuggling operations. De Lima, in turn, told Tan to proceed to the NBI. In an interview with reporters, de Lima said there is no basis for her to order Tan's detention at this time since no formal charges have been filed.
