Ingredients:
For Batter
1 cup Urad Dal, soaked
1 tbsp Water
1 tsp Salt
Ginger, chopped
Curry leaves
Asafoetida
Black Peppercorns
Coconut, grated
2 tbsp Rice flour
For Medu vada:
Oil for frying
Vada batter
For Chutney:
Dry Coconut, chopped
2 tbsp Channa Dal
Tamarind
Ginger, grated
2 Green Chillies, chopped
Water as required
Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
1 tsp Sugar

Method of preparation:
For Batter
Grind the soaked dal to a smooth batter with little water.
Add salt to the batter and whisk it with your hand for 10 minutes.
Add ginger, curry leaves, asafoetida, black peppercorns, coconut, rice flour, mix well.
Wet both your hands, make balls of the batter, make a hole in the center.
For medu vada:
Heat oil in a vessel, add the prepared vadas and fry it till it's golden brown in color.
For Chutney:
In a mixer jar add dry coconut, channa dal, tamarind, ginger, green chillies, grind it without water for some time.
Add little water, coriander, salt, sugar and grind them.
