Here at Cooking Vinyl we like to keep abreast of all the new developments in the music industry, particularly the really big issues that impact us all.
However, even when we think we’ve got a good handle on what’s happening changes occur so quickly in our business that it’s hard to make time to sit down and really think about the implications.
With that in mind we have decided to curate a number of panel discussions over the next few months, which we are simply calling ‘The Future of ….” sessions.
Taking place at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden on a monthly basis we are getting the smartest people we know to talk about the future of some key areas of the industry.
“The Future of …” sessions are invite only and will, we hope, provide some clear thinking and real insight into where our industry is going from experts in their respective fields.
Moderated by Music Business Worldwide Founder Tim Ingham our panel is: Dr Shain Shapiro (Sound Diplomacy), Feargal Sharkley (Public Policy and Creative Industries) / Consultant (Former CEO of UK Music), Dr Julia Jones (Found in Music), Stuart Galbraith (Kilimanjaro Live) and Arianna Ricciotti (British Land)
How do we approach the value of spaces, based on their financial potential or their cultural significance? Do we need to re-evaluate the means of determining value?
Does London need more large venues or small grassroots venues? Which would stimulate London's music scene more effectively?
Should venues be constructed to accommodate multiple cultural purposes to maximize property value?
What roles do music promoters and councilors in drawing citizens to venues?
How can ordinary citizens become more engaged in the local music scene?
