Here at Cooking Vinyl we like to keep abreast of all the new developments in the music industry, particularly the really big issues that impact us all.

However, even when we think we’ve got a good handle on what’s happening changes occur so quickly in our business that it’s hard to make time to sit down and really think about the implications.

With that in mind we have decided to curate a number of panel discussions over the next few months, which we are simply calling ‘The Future of ….” sessions.

Taking place at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden on a monthly basis we are getting the smartest people we know to talk about the future of some key areas of the industry.

“The Future of …” sessions are invite only and will, we hope, provide some clear thinking and real insight into where our industry is going from experts in their respective fields.

Our third panel of this series took place on Tuesday February 9th.

Moderated by Music Business Worldwide Founder Tim Ingham our panel is: Rob Collins (Cooking Vinyl) John Leahy (Ignition Records) Jeff Smith (BBC Radio 2 & 6 Music) Gareth Jone (The 7 Stars) Darren Hemmings (Motive Unknown) and Federico Bolza (Sony Music)

The panellists for this debate, who specialise in a range of industry disciplines, discuss how effective marketing is in the current climate and look at how sophisticated the whole process has become and continues to evolve as an increasing share of the market moves from ownership to consumption.
