Here at Cooking Vinyl we like to keep abreast of all the new developments in the music industry, particularly the really big issues that impact us all.

However, even when we think we’ve got a good handle on what’s happening changes occur so quickly in our business that it’s hard to make time to sit down and really think about the implications.

With that in mind we have decided to curate a number of panel discussions over the next few months, which we are simply calling ‘The Future of ….” sessions.

Taking place at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden on a monthly basiswe are getting the smartest people we know to talk about the future of some key areas of the industry.

“The Future of …” sessions are invite only and will, we hope, provide some clear thinking and real insight into where our industry is going from experts in their respective fields.

Our fourth panel of this series took place on Monday March 7th.

Moderated by Music Business Worldwide Founder Tim Ingham our panel is: Martin Goldschmidt (Cooking Vinyl), Ray Bush (Music Royalty Co.), Charles Caldas (Merlin) Mark Williamson (Spotify) Annabella Coldrick (MMF) and Maria Forte (Maria Forte Music Services)

Is streaming killing the music business or has it a given us our biggest revenue opportunity in a decade ?

If so , who is seeing that revenue and is it being distributed fairly ?

Is the monthly pricing model right for a mass market product?

Can piracy become an effective source of revenue?

The panel will look at these and many other critical issues that will affect the future of not just digital income but perhaps the future of the industry.
