Following a final, live voting poll, French biopharma firm Sanofi claimed the grand prize at the Foreign Investment Trophy for funneling EUR 300 million into the expansion of its biotech factory in Geel, Flanders.

The French biopharma company announced its expansion plans in 2016, choosing its Flanders-based plant for the production of its latest generation of biological medicines.

Shortly after, Sanofi received a nomination for Foreign Investment of the Year at the Foreign Investment Trophy 2017, hosted by Flanders Investment & Trade on Feb. 21. Gunther Pauwels (General Manager Sanofi Geel) and Stéphane Vandendael (General Manager Sanofi Genzyme Diegem) commented on the occasion during a company visit in Geel.
