Brazil: "Partida" Seeks to Expand Women's Political Participation

A new women's organization, Partida (a play on words to feminize the Portuguese word for party), has emerged in Brazil. Its aim is to broaden women's participation in political life. Its members say that Brazil's political parties, including those on the left, fall short when it comes to women's participation. Even though Brazil has a female president, the feminists of Partida say the organization is a response to the gender imbalance prevailing in congress, where only 10% of representatives are women. teleSUR
