Brazil: Workers' Party Congress Begins

Brazil's ruling Workers' Party (PT) began its congress yesterday. Delegates are discussing the formation of a new democratic popular front and the possibility of running charismatic PT founder a former president Luis Ignacio de Silva, popularly known as Lula, for the presidency in 2018, to succeed Dilma Rousseff. The aim is to rebuild alliances and popular support for the party, weakened by recent corruption scandals and the difficult economic situation. teleSUR
