00:00The U.S. Department of Justice announced an investigation of the Truesdale Correctional
00:05Facility in Tennessee for human rights violations and prisoner abuse.
00:10Prisoners and family members report brutal mistreatment, medical neglect, and cruelty
00:13at the prisons operated by Cords Civic Corrections Corporation, as Phil Dixon, a former officer
00:21at the facility, has been speaking out for years about the abuses he witnessed firsthand
00:25as a prison employee.
00:27Likewise, prisoners' rights organizations have asked the Justice Department to investigate
00:32the violations committed against inmates.
00:34Relatives of the victims warn that Cords Civic agreed to pay millions of dollars to the prisoners
00:39and their families to drop the abuse and neglect charges.
00:45We want something done.
00:47We want somebody to be accountable for these deaths and these minds and these people that
00:54they are ruining.
00:55They did a crime, and they are supposed to serve their time, but it does not mean they
01:01have to lose their entire mind or their life for what they did.
01:06I think that the most significant thing that I saw was the medical neglect.
01:09I mean, I saw prisoners with open, gaping wounds on their body, and I would sign on
01:16as a witness that they were unable to get medical care because that's all they could
01:19do.
01:20Again, it was an open secret, and yet the state of Tennessee inexplicably failed to
01:25do anything.
01:26So that's when people began to reach out, I think, and ask the department to step in.
01:32In the United States as well, a second shooting in less than 12 hours took place in Oklahoma,
01:37in the southern part of the country, leaving one dead and 12 wounded.
01:42The incident was reported at 12.30 a.m. local time, according to Sgt.
01:45John Sakuta, one of the police officers who responded to the call.
01:49The aggravation occurred after a strong argument between the attendees of a party.
01:54In the parking lot, the area where the weapons came out, a deadly result was produced.
02:00The police have not informed neither the age nor the sex of the wounded.
02:03The same source writes that there are detainees for the fact without offering further details.
02:08According to the Armed Violence Archive, this will be the 416th mass shooting so far in
02:14the year 2024.
02:17And the White House released the medical report of Kamala Harris, candidate for the presidency
02:23of the United States, who urged Republican Donald Trump to do the same.
02:27According to the report signed by Dr. Joshua Simmons, Harris is in good health, physical
02:32and mental health to carry out this Democratic candidate took aim at her, accusing him of
02:39lack of transparency by not providing official information about his physical and mental
02:43health.
02:44In response, the businessman's campaign managers assured that their candidate is in good condition.
