Researchers from Purdue University have discovered a very old moon crater never seen before, and they’ve named the significant find after former faculty member Amelia Earhart.

The aviator is, of course, best known as a pioneer in the field of flight as well as for her disappearance while attempting to become the first woman to fly around the world.

The crater that for now bears her name was found by examining gravity mapping data recorded by NASA’s GRAIL mission.
