The World Today: The Human Rights Industry

Ever since Carter’s Presidency ‘human rights’ have become a central pillar of imperial ideology, but selectively. While social rights are under attack, human rights have become a weapon to justify ‘humanitarian’ military interventions. Washington-friendly states (Saudi Arabia, Israel, China, Egypt, the Gulf statelets) are left alone, Russia is now regularly targeted as are the Bolivarian Republics.
This entire process degrades the very notion of rights and norms.
