The most popular seasonings in Korean cuisine are soy sauce, the soybean paste "doenjang“ and the chili pepper paste "gochujang." Their taste largely determines the taste of the whole dish. Doenjang is the seasoning of choice among Koreans.

It is made with fermented beans and is eaten either as a sauce or as a stew called "doenjang jjigye." The stew allows to sample the profound taste of doenjang as well as vegetables, seafood or meat used in it.
