Body Falls Onto Busy Street After Coroner Van Door Opens

Motorists on a Pennsylvania road recently witnessed an unusual and terrifying sight. A dead body on a gurney was left in the middle of the street.

Motorists on a Pennsylvania road recently witnessed an unusual and terrifying sight. A dead body on a gurney was left in the middle of the street.

A Bucks County Coroner's Office van had been traveling down the road in Southampton when the door somehow malfunctioned. The gurney tumbled out of the vehicle and onto the pavement.
The body and gurney were stranded on the busy roadway near the Bucks Crossing Shopping Center. Cars were forced to maneuver around the obstacle.
According to a witness, the body was wrapped in a bag and sheet. The coroner's office said the driver quickly noticed what happened and turned around to retrieve the body.
A bystander reportedly helped the driver load the gurney and remains back into the van over the duration of a few minutes. A county news release states “The Bucks County Coroner’s Office deeply regrets this incident and will take steps to ensure that it is not repeated in the future.”
An investigation into the troubling occurrence has been launched.
