Dale Victorine - Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 103, 3rd Mvt.

This is the 3rd movement of my Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 103 – written in 2011. One day in the spring of 2011 I was driving in the Grant Park area, hoping to take a hike and get a good musical idea for this movement. I noticed something in the road and pulled over to have a look. It was a large King Snake. I got a stick and gently got him to move off the road. After getting back in my car and driving another mile, this theme suddenly came to me. The middle theme came in a dream a few days later – a serene and beautiful American hymn. For this video I decided to pay a tribute to the farmers and ranchers of America. The one with the calf roping was taken in the early 1900s at the Victorine dairy ranch south of Carmel, CA where my father was born in 1898. The sonata is performed here in 2011 by Grant Rosen, clarinet and Rick Yramategui, piano. Contact me at dvic56@aol.com for info on sheet music.
