Dale E. Victorine - When I Am Gone – for SSA Chorus with Piano, Op. 106 (poem by Doe Parker)

I wrote this work in Jan. 2014. Peggy Spool, director of Vivace Youth Chorus commissioned me to set this poem by Doe Parker (Sophie Broome), a very talented poet, and member of the chorus. The poem is a beautiful and moving appeal to the reader to go beyond what we normally feel at losing someone, and come to a place where we find not only what we’ve lost, but ourselves in the process. Doe has published a book of her poetry, titled “Becoming Doe”, which is available from Amazon or Createspace.
