My Heart’s in the Highlands, Op. 26 for Soprano or Tenor (Poem by Robert Burns)
I wrote this setting of Robert Burn’s great song in 1978 after a friend introduced it to me in a minor key. I was attracted to the strength and sincerity of the words. At the time I didn’t know much about my Scottish roots, though I knew that my maternal grandmother was a Moffitt. In recent years I’ve learned just how well-known a Scottish name it is. Excuse me for presenting a “computer generated” version here, but I still don’t have a recording of a live performance. This song is self-published in my collection, “Ten Solos for High Voice” and available on Amazon. (My “Kyrie Eleison” is also in that collection.) Contact me at dvic56@aol.com if you’d like to purchase a PDF of just this song.
