Man Uses Stolen Credit Card to Pay for Court-Ordered Fingerprints

A 28-year-old man walked into the Sheriff's Office Central Records Unit in Mason in order to provide fingerprints resulting from a previous fraud charge. He decided to pay a portion of the bill with a stolen credit card.
Being a criminal requires at least some intelligence, especially if the culprit wants to avoid getting caught for some time.
A 28-year-old man in Michigan was recently involved a comical incident.
The male had walked into the Sheriff's Office Central Records Unit in Mason in order to provide fingerprints resulting from a previous fraud charge. The processing cost for the court-order fingerprints was $16.
The man decided to pay a portion of the bill with a credit card. When workers ran the piece of plastic through, the machine flagged the card as stolen.
Adding to the humorous circumstances, the man had $15 cash on him. According to the police department, “he presented a credit card for the $1 balance.”
The Sherriff’s Department released the man, but it is believed charges will be brought against him in the near future.
A law enforcement spokesperson stated “We have had people come in here and write bad checks, but it doesn't happen very often.”
