Montengrin National Theatre Podgorica (Montenegro) -
TRAGEDY BURLESQUE / URNEBESNA TRAGEDIJA
Text: Dušan Kovačević
Director: Veljko Mićunović

The play speaks about the conflicts in the family consisting of former Communists and members of the civil option. The collateral victim of the family conflicts is a twelve-year-old son Neven, who ends up with a deep identity crisis at the end of the play. There has been over twenty days since the time when the play was written, and many things have changed in us and around us. Quarrels between the so-called communists and the so-called civilians of the late eighties are now just memories of the period when our society was undergoing a process of maturation and that is why Neven in this play is a boy who recalls his childhood and puts an end to the former conflicts. Director Veljko Mićunović has shifted the play delicately towards the Montenegrin mentality without compromising the structure of the work and the beauty of the language. This production is significant because it puts back Tragedy Burlesque to the theatre scene through a new and fresh reading.
